If you install the latest GUI client, you can only run ONE client.

So, you say, heck with that, I want to run X clients, I'll use the old client...

Won't work... :bang:

Uninstall the GUI client, then you can run the old client again.

I just downloaded the GUI client fron chesbrain.net.

I presume this is the client you are talking about IB.

What is the problem with it ?

What is the problem with it ? If you have the old Windows client installed in \dcprojects\CB
Then install the GUI client (same location, nothing gets overwritten)
If you try to run another copy of the GUI client, it tells you that you can only run one instance.
So you stop the GUI (in the tray) then try to launch the old client, it won't work.
It shows up in task manager, but no DOS box, no activity that I can see...

Uninstall GUI, run old client, all better.

Sorry IB I dont understand the problem.

Looking at an old install of CB there are two main files cbpncli and cbspn.conf.

The newest version on the chessbrain site still has the same two main files so installing over the top would overwrite them so how is it possible to run the old version when it has been overwritten ?

I used the newest version today on a donor PC and launched cbpncli multiple times.
with and without the grey screen.

cbpncli 0,cbspn.conf
cbpncli 1,cbspn.conf

cbpncli 0,cbspn.conf
cbpncli 1,cbspn.conf That's the command client, the GUI client is called something else.

Guys,

It's the same client. I fargot I had a spare copy on the other computer and I compared both and realized that the client did not change.
Now I'm running 30 instances with one machine. Let's see my output!
