Choose "Get Knoppix" link from here: http://www.knoppix.net/ for a list of mirrors.

www.linuxiso.org is where I get all my ISOs from. Also, they have a resourceful forum.

Have fun.

Samba is pretty simple to set up, I guess you want to share a drive on your wnidows box to the knoppix one ?

There are probably tools on knoppix, but I always just do it from the commandline anyway

Let's say you've shared out a folder and named it TOOLS on 192.168.1.2

to share that folder on your knoppix machine from the command line type

mount -t smbfs -o username=xxxxx,password=yyyyy //192.168.1.2/tools /mnt/tools

make sure the mount point (/mnt/tools) is created on your ramdisk or whatever and change the username and password.

Use bittorrent for those big D/L's... and the Azureus BT client.

Try it. You'll like it :) A lot! So much so that you'll be looking around for new, big downloads you can do, just to see your DSL bandwidth max out for a change....

Actually Bok, when I install it permanently, it will be SuSe 9.1 Pro, that I got from Novell on DVD on some Technical resource dvds they sent me.What I have is 4 boxes all running w2k.They are all networked through my DSL modem/router that I got from Qwest for my DSL service. All my machines are run through a KVM switch.I will need to be able to access the Linux machine from my main machine, which is on W2K.As it is now, I can access the machine with no problem on W2k, so it might be a headache.Being as this is pretty much my start with LInux, be prepared some nice:spank: language as I try and figure this out!! Also, is there some software that I will be able to install on the LInux box, to monitor FaD, so I know when I need to download, and dump WU's?

Figures!! I was just looking through my old cd's that I burned, and found an ole cd with Knoppix that I burned along time ago!! Oh Well, I need to get the latest distro, anyway!!!:jester:

No problem accessing from win2k, just install ssh/putty :) Suse 9.1 is pretty good, but being it's going to be accessed remotely anyway (command line) it doesn't really matter what flavour you put on it.

For monitoring FAD, FADProgress is your friend.....

re: monitoring
If you have been a FADSpy user, and your normal daily desktop is still going to be Windows, you may want to consider just sharing your FAD directory on the Linux box using Samba, then accessing (that shared directory) from within FADSpy.

On the http://www.suse.com site it seems the latest version is 9.3, but their download links all say stuff like this:

Download the free evaluation of Novell Linux Desktop 9 which includes 60 days of free access to updates and patches
which implies you won't be able to get updates and patches unless you subscribe.
