My other beef is the lack of anything but a Windows client. :(

Of course, if it's possible, make us a team! As long as their are people from Free-DC who want to participate, we should have a place for them to do so. :thumbs:

Just out of curiosity, what problems were you having with Distributed Folding? I've had issues with it in the past so I'm watching it like a hawk now. So far, so good. Is there something in particular that I should be looking for, Colin?

Q: Why am I getting 'block report denied' error messages?
A: Most likely, your block has "expired." This means that the server gave up waiting for you to submit it. Because clients can die in the middle of a block, the server only waits 8 hours for a block to be reported. After that, it assumes the client died, and returns the block to the queue, and sends it out to a new client. This way, work is never "lost." If you get this error often, talk to us and we'll try to work out a solution.

However, from what you're reporting about SOB, then agreed: no no-netters & full-time connects only. This would be consistent with their project. They're doing stepwise refinement, so your results becomes the next guy's fresh work unit.

Kinda like FAH, but hopefully, without the Pande group. :rolleyes:

It's an OPPORTUNITY to massacre another project.

The client has no checkpointing, runs windows only and is not in the way.

If you have machines to match, we can do some damage:)


I stopped DF because I only had one box on it 24/7. The output was near zero when compared to powerhouses like Paratima.

It made me feel inadequit :crazy:

FoBoT, it's 1st version of client, you have to edit .cfg file in sob directory and write your "FoBoT" handle in place where anonymous reside.

You must click Config button and then enter your username into "Username".

While I cannot give this or any other project much power, I am running it and it's OK for me. My setup matches the requirements. I am #2 or #3 every day for Daily Production. Surely SOMEONE can challenge my natural, God given supremacy?
