View Full Version : Cooler for processor?!?!

I need your help. I want to buy a new cooler for my AMD64 3000+ S754 because the original one is making too much noise (fan), but I really don't understand how to choose one.
The goal here is too decrease to half the fan noise (dB). The hot season is here and sometimes I can't sleep at night.

My motherboard is an Asus K8V-F.

I recommend Zalman, I have one on mx 3200 and it is just great! keeps it cool and quiet.

Very quiet , a little big, but works great.

You may want to see if you can replace just the fan with something quieter - might be cheaper than replacing the entire cooler, if it is possible.

Depends on how the fan is attached to the heat sink.

Fargot to tell but yesterday I cleaned the dust from the machine (fan, hard drives, everything) and the noise reduced by 10%. I also had some kind of vibration in the box but that is fixed.

Which one of the Zalmans did you order?

The 92mm fan version or the 120mm fan version?

Altough both are great. I use the 92mm version, because it is the only one to fit my board :-)

I ordered both, the Zalman - CNPS7000B-ALCU and the Zalman - CNPS7700-CU, but I will take the machine to the computer store to see which one fits better.
