Technically the VapoChill Micro™ CPU coolers are characterized by hermetically sealed gas/liquid chambers exploiting the most effective cooling principle available: phase change cooling.

Anyone using one of these yet?

I`ve seen one somewhere but I can`t find it now.
Checked all the usual UK shops but can`t find the stockist I saw.

Looks interesting as I`m looking at replacing the 3 Asus duals (A7M-266D`s with Bartons in) with S939 dual cores though not sure what board yet as I don`t want SLI.

Been interested in the new ULI chipset boards but can`t find any decent ones in stock anywhere in UK.

On top of a pile of work to catch up on, that`s my next project when I get out of hospital.
Got to get out as this old laptop is driving me mad and probably gonna postpone the rather risky back op which would mean around 3 months in a body cast.

At least my alcohol supply is keeping up otherwise I would definitely crack up.:looney:

Jebus!

What Back op? Why you in Hospital? They let you drink in Hospital? I'm going to the UK for my next surgery :rotfl:

Only if you`re private care. I`m lucky as I still have my ex employer medicare (Blue Cross) and a lifetime sub to one of the better insurance schemes (BUPA) paid for as part of a court settlement after an accident many years ago.
Actually, the NHS is improving and you can get drink if allowed by quacks.
Anyway, this`ll be my third and last op as apart from a bad disc (going in over) they`ve found a small fragment of vertebrae broken off which is lodged in the spinal canal (very tiny bit) and it`s causing some odd effects such as upsetting my feelings of temperature in my legs among other things.
Always dodgy when they have to open up your spine so 50/50 on a wheelchair result. Not too worried though as I`ve got one of the best Professors of Neuro Surgery and Ortho specialists to match.
I`m also lucky in that the ward senior sister is a long time friend and the IT admin manager got his job partly on my say so but the new facilities in here for phone and internet are pretty good anyway, even for NHS patients.
But I still want out...worse than being in prison, especially now the weathers so rubbish and I`m confined to bed instead of being allowed to sit in the little enclosed garden just outside my room.

Appologies for the off topic....but iwuz arsked :o

Now if I can find a link for someplace in the US that carries them!! Looks like they would be a great cooling solution!!

Problem is, they are "vaporware", literally. The shipping dates have been missed multiple times. The premier dealer for them, Kit-Tronics, now says it might be August of 2005 or so. Here's the link, notice the "note to purchasers" on the lower right side...

Now I don't remember much from my engineering classes in school - back 35 years ago or so, but don't I recall something about closed systems like that just eventually going to an equilibrium point and staying there?

Also, let's see - they'd need a "safe" liquid that boils around or just over room temperature, say 85 F tops.... Hmmm....

Well, so much for that thought! it looks like you can get them for the AMD K7,s and K8's, only for the A64 series CPU's!!! :moon: :spank:

Nearest I can figure, they`re phase change same as a gas/electric portable fridge but with the cpu acting as the interface for heating the liquid which then condenses in the heat exchanger with the aid of a fan assisted airflow.
My caravan/portable fridge works on the same principle and very well it does cos it freezes no problem and you need to lift the lid when on gas as it actually gets too cold.
Now we just need to see them getting to market.

Closed loop does work otherwise an open loop would vent all the phase change lquid to atmosphere. All they`ve done is omit the pump and if my engineering still remembered, the hotter you get it the better it will work. Not accurate cos I don`t have the variables but close and very similar to the current heatpipe designs except the phaase change liquid is actually in the core interface.

Don't Use the ones without the fan
