Having recently aquired a 64 bit chip 'A64' I am toying with the idea of trying out the 64bit versions of XP and linux.

What are the things to watch out for if I go 64bit ?

Drivers on the Windows are lacking, get them first, especially the NIC driver you will need. ;)

The 64 bit Gentoo builds aren't that difficult to install if you go stage 3. I could walk you through the necessary commands easily enough via IM or IRC.

If the Gentoo live CD finds everything, then it will work, it's just a case of checking which modules were loaded to include them in the kernel build.

I just did one over the weekend fairly painlessly.

Tried the Windoze version but a lot of drivers aren`t there yet and some progs don`t like it.
Bit of a pain unless you really need it till 64bit becomes more usual or you`re running a server and require more than 4Gb of memory.
