~Looking for older, smaller SATA hard drives (20gb or whatever really). Need 2 for a coming cruncher/project system. Going to be building another frankenstein system for FaD and work here at home. Trying to get my home BiZ going again :)

Any help would be great. I have very little cash, so would like to trade for them?

Thanks,
Brian:)

I dunno Bok. If 80GB is the smallest then Id onlybe needing (1) as 80gb is about 4 times the amount of space Id need.

I`ve not even gone sata yet as my present raid5`s are 4x160Gb disks each and a bit too expensive to replace yet.
But certainly 40Gb and 80Gb satas are available in UK at around the same price or within a couple £s of each other. Hitachi seems to be the cheapest but just looked up WD and their 40 and 80 are within £2 of the same price. Not seen many second hand ones.

I think 40GB wil lbe the smallest drives you'll find in 3.5" size as this is the platter size SATA came out at.

I makes no sence making a smaller platter SATA drive.

But a 40Gb 7200RPM 8Mb Cache Hitachi SATA OEM (HGST-13G0251) is £30 inc VAT in the UK :D
That's new of course. Don't see too many Second Hand SATA drives around as they're still new technology.

ebay maybe ?

I am not sure if this would help you, but I have an old PATA->SATA adaptor around some place. Let me know if you are interested.
