I would really appreciate it if the people running the project would take the time to write 1-3 paragraphs that explain the goals of the main project and sub-projects.
The intro could be something your average high-school graduate would understand(listed in terms of general and individual goal for each individual landscape), and if they want to, some technical information could be added for the better educated.
"Copper grain boundary system" means absolutely nothing to me, but if you said,"We're attempting to create nanobots that reproduce unchecked and ultimately destroy all life except themselves," :D then people would more appreciative, since they would know what they're getting behind.
