Darn. Winblows only! :bang:

As for LHC... I tried that a while back and I didn't quite like those BOINC projects as most of those that have run it before would testify.

Maybe when it becomes more mature, then I might reconsider running BOINC.

As for DPAP,... damn Winblows only :bang::bang:

Bok
08-31-2005, 05:52 PM
yeah, I've had some bad experiences with BOINC but at the moment LHC combined with Einstein is behaving VERY well...I have LHC set to 2000 for resource share and Einstein at 100 or so.

Might be worth giving it another go

The project does not interest me all that much but I do have 3 machines on it, crunching a steady 500-600Gs a day.

Ok Fozzie,

I've given you a headstart on me but I'll answer that roadkill challenge. I've thrown 3 machines onboard and tomorrow I'm anticipating throwing on the 4800 x2 to DPAD to start.

I suspect you noticed the :stomp: in FAD too.

Revenge will be sweet if you can catch Fast DPAD Foz. :Pokes:

A bit late in entering the game, but I'm in the midst of testing out the client on one or two of my machines.

Just one question. I know that it will only upload results when the result.txt file reaches 100k. So, how long does it generally take to reach 100k on a P4 2.8GHz?

Any rough benchmarks?

Oh, Foz... be afraid, be very afraid. :jester:

Fozzie
09-15-2005, 03:13 AM
bring it. :Pokes:

The P4 should do an upload probably twice a day.

The 100k is a rough guide depending on the query it runs. I have had results.txt files of 2mb produced in 1 day, but the pointage stays the same.

Chucked another 3GHZ box on this AM which should keep you firmly in the rearview.

PY is bluffing.

He's betting like an Oil magnate, but we all know as far as Windows boxen he's more a Fridge magnet.

Gonna struggle to do that.

Damn right they should be. :smoking:

Coz we are Free-DC and we mean business when it comes to DCing.

Lets aim for 6th place before we have to move all our firepower back to FaD for the Gauntlet there.

my muppet mouth shut and roadkill quietly.

Taunting PY is maybe also another bad move.

But hey team roadkillage is the target, personal smackdowns are just secondary....honest...I'm not too bothered about being :stomp:

OK I am :trash:

Thanks Foz.

Guess we will have to take a breather once the FaD gauntlet starts eh.

But I'll come back to this project after the gauntlet is over so I can catch IB. :sniper:

Jkusuda
09-26-2005, 03:11 PM
I know a 500k hit isn't nearly as much as what hit IB on Dpad but I'm not the happiest right now. After reading things on the DPAD forum about it, this seems to be an ongoing problem that has never quite been resolved. I have to babysit PC's and their uploads way too much as well. For some reason, I have several pc's that just won't upload on their own. I'm going to hit my goal of top 5 in DPAD on the team but then I'm definitely off this project for good.

PY 222
09-26-2005, 03:36 PM
Looks like Foz and myself have been hit too.

Where is the Project Admin? :swear:

Fozzie
09-26-2005, 03:55 PM
I think I have seen some before but they have always correted themselves.

Come the FaD Gauntlet I'll be rearranging my borgage but I stil like the idea of the science for this project so will be back to hunt down 5th place for Free DC.

Can't run BOINC at the office and don't run mathematics projects so this one fit the criteria the best.

Hope the hits get straightened out.

James I don't allow the machines to upload by them selves you can schedule a batch process to do the send function, then it always works.

I harvest the whole folder after terminating the muon1 process and send the files using the manualsend.bat and then update the sample files.

It takes my lunch break to deal with my DC committments but hey I choose to do it.

James if you were Ronbo you'd say I had a word with the admin. It's agood close race mate.

I'm going to stay on board dpad until the FaD gauntlet but will not be coming back. I'm thinking Eon looks like a good project to try though...maybe that will be next.

birdman2584

I dont know if you are opposed to BOINC, but Rosetta@home appears to be very promising, it's still in the beta but the admins are doing a wonderful job with communication and no shortage of work thus far. I used to be against BOINC, but you may want to just give it a try and see what you think. Im pretty impressed, hope to see you there.
