Does anyone know if Dan Norris is even aware that there is a problem?
My machines are starting to run out of work
When I go to seventeenorbust.com I get this message:
***code***
System error
error: DBI connect('sb:localhost','sbweb',...) failed: Too many connections at...
Was just a bit bored and looked and decided to try and figure out what our BOINC brothers out there are doing.
Comparing the two sites that I now also see that Matt posted before me gives a pretty...
Thank you for the explanation, sounds like it is going to work out fine then :)
Well just tried upgrading to build 5 and got the same thing again ... wasting a few more hours on P-1 then ;)
It's only the three test that are somewhere around 26% that it retests, the one that's...
hmmm I think you are right there is a problem with P-1 factoring being done more than once.
I just saw it when I got back home to my computer where there had been a power down while I was away,...
I am actually not sure how to check status of a specific exponent, maybe only Louie or one of the other admins can do that.
But I wouldn't me too worried if I was you, even if someone else has...
Yup seems you are right 4 workers on 26.2 is faster, than with 8 workers on 25.11 per iteration time was in the range 0.084-0.091 and with 26.2 and 4 workers the range was 0.034-0.040
Only problem...
hmmm seems that it is only starting 4 workers where is normally 25.11 started 8 workers on an i7 ... is this expected?
It says something about running helper threads on a cpu ... haven't been...
Trying it out now on my i7 64bit linux, so far seems to be working without problems
I have at least one factor that may be passed during the weekend (I'm not quite sure at which speed the tests are dealt out at the moment).
Is it possible to add these few factors, mostly found...
:|party|: the new memory dump on exit feature is great . It will give me 3-4 extra efficient CPU-hours every day and if the client also is more stable my stats will go to the sky (anyways the sky...
Yeah I've also been wondering if it was'nt possible to use all that processing power on the graphics-cards for something useful, and it seems I'm not the only one who had that thought.
I think that a lot of the speedup on your laptop is because of the difference in the FSB as P4's are pretty dependent on the speed of the FSB to my understanding anyways. On the other hand I have a...
It's nice to get some of the background on this project. Thanks for posting that little story David :)
One of the things I like about this projekt is that it has that garage feeling about it, no...
I agree that it would be a good thing to develop an expiration-time-algorithm.
I'm curios as to how you can identify the computers out there. Almost all the computers I have running use dynamic...
For a good introduction to sieving I very much recommend Mike H's sieve site for SoB.
Sieving and P-1 factoring are optimal for offline computers.
You could reserve a range for sieving and let it run at the same time, that way when the client runs out of work, the siever will take over.
4847*2^7129983 +1
Finally :D ... congratulations everyone
I just removed the two lines saying k=5359 and then some number in the next line, I guess this gives 4847 a lot more weight, but only on the other side...
Well it seems next.txt is on the run again :beep:
At least this did some good as the sieve-stats now isn't dependent on this little jumpy fellow :bouncy: and thereby should get somewhat more...
The active windows is decided by next.txt and it has been stuck at 5359*2^4879702 for some time now.
Why that is I don't know hopefully it only affects the stats, but I dont know therefore i posted...
For the last 24 hours the test 5359*2^4879702 has been in the next.txt file, why is that?
In my understanding the next.txt file should shift pretty often, something like every time a new test gets...
:bath: Thanx, just thought we had another breakdown of some sort.
Btw. smaller bugs on the homepage seem to dissapear slowly but safely, good job whoevers fixing them.
When trying to log on to the website I get the following error message.
Is this a general problem?
