What a shame. I hadn't heard that he was ill.
He'll be missed.

Would you like to help package the new Prime95 or forthcoming v26.3 for SB? This could help improve the efficiency of the project and help find our next prime sooner.
Also, I could use help...
This is an odd wrinkle in the problem. This factor does work. That removes a lot of possible explainations for this.
What I do know:
The factors hc_grove posted ARE valid.
The webscript DOES...
I've been working on this for about an hour.
Already ruled out a few things but haven't figured out the root cause yet.
So far I've ruled out that the factor table being too large and that...
i don't mind experimenting with a different limit.
i've raised the expiration to 1 month (30 days). this applys to all current and future pending tests so if you haven't reported for 9 days, you...
ok, so it's online now. go to the download page on the site to try it out.
please, everyone give feedback on how it works as quickly as possible. if there's something seriously wrong, i may have...
I know what that is. I already fixed it. I'll post a fix in a few when I'm done with Linux.
Cheers,
Louie
I have a new linux client compiled from v1.20 source.
I'm trying to fix alignment issues though. Windows knows better than to misalign SSE2 instructions but Linux doesn't.
If I can't fix it...
you should let them report back. eventually, all tests will be retested a second time to insure the results are correct so you will prevent the need for someone else to retest them later. also,...
is this still a problem? i checked and it looked fine.
just to be sure, i reran the scripts. it should be fine now.
if i had to hazard a guess, i'd say that maybe the problem was caused by...
I agree. Although this new prime is in all likelihood a Keller prime for the series 5359*2^n+1, it is not in our interest to make sure that it is.
I think double checking resources should first...
I added an update to the homepage at http://www.seventeenorbust.com/. It's just below Dave's announcement. Our prime has already been listed in the record books:

We don't need every patch n < 3M sieved. I think it's more important to unify the sieve effort so it's less confusing for people who want to help and not as time consuming to post to both threads...
The server won't actively try to kill pending tests for k=5359. No new ones have been assigned in over a week so there aren't that many. If you have one, feel free to drop it. The server is...
I guess it did.
Hopefully the 7th 8th 9th and 10th are all in the 8th's window the way the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th were all in the 1st and 2nd.
I'm somehow not surpised that one of these...
k=5359 is DONE! :)
Check out our announcement at http://www.seventeenorbust.com/
5359*2^5054502 + 1 is prime.
The prime was reported several days ago and we have just completed a full proth...
As many of you point out, I am quite busy right now. I don't have time to work on SB or answer every question on the forums these days like I used to.
I miss being here.
But I can make time...
SB v1.1.1

Only needed for people with P4s or any processor that uses SSE2 commands. Prevents crashes in the client with large exponents.
Cheers,
Louie
I have been aware of this problem for a couple days.
The issue only effects processors that use SSE2 (ie P4, Opterons(?)) for exponents n > 498000.
A fix is ready. Download this new version. ...
DOS attack over. site back up.
-Louie
i hear the site is down. our ISP is having connection issues. denial of service attack of some sort. the server itself is ok but it's connection has been down since 12:30am this morning.
if...
If factoring is producing results, I'd say you should continue if you enjoy saving SB resources. It may be a small need but it takes a lot of manual work to do it. I appreciate all you do.
...
i wanted to thank everyone for their feedback and give you an update.
i have started the work of fixing up the linux client. it's on the top of my programming list. however, I am going to...
the P-1 will eventually be in the client, but it won't be in the short term (aka this year) for a number of reasons.
first off, the P-1 code is still in flux. i'd like the time estimation code to...
