Just out of curiousity, does anyone have an explaination for the unusually high (usually >95%) percentage of male participants in DC projects?
I vote for November 4 (I originally wanted to vote for November 2, but it was already taken :cry: and I think november 4th has a greater chance of suceeding than October 28th).
With the help of MikeH, I got this information on sieve gaps:
Range=61-62T
Gap size for 1% factor loss: 63378774, range removed: 20281207680.00, 2.03%
Gap size for 2% factor loss: 140429588,...
At the same time, P-1 factoring will also take longer per candidate as time goes on since the exponents being PRP'ed will grow larger.

I don't think that it can be done anytime soon since it's very hard to compare the amount of computing time needed for sieving and factoring with the time for PRPing.
I like sieving too. Half of my PC's time is spent sieving, and the other half is Proth testing for the Riesel project.

2-3 years is more than enough time needed to sieve ranges n>20M, and in order for there to be only 2-3 years left, we would need to discover at least 6 primes and have our computing power triple.

I think that the cap should be quite high (at least 400T for now) so that people can still choose to sieve high ranges (remember that there are people who sieved ranges as high as 1P before P-1...

Keroberts, I noticed that too - whenever a big gap occurs between factors, around 3-4 factors are clumped together after that. I thought that it was just a strange coincidence, though.
I can't understand half of the math here, but is P+1 factoring supposed to be more efficient than P-1 factoring?
P.S. I think that this thread should also be put in the factoring subforum.

I checked the "Test Range statistics" page, and under the category "current test window" and the sub-category "min n",
it says that the min n currently being tested for k=5359 is
