i've got an old gateway e 3400. i can't get sound, even headphones. went to gateway page and downloaded what drivers were there, but there were none for this item. did windows update. device manager is clear.

i need it yesterday. think if i go buy a sound card it will work?

    It should

But did you check your Bios to see if it was turned on there?

And Or remove it all together from the OS and then reboot?

PS if you do get a new one you have to turn it off in the Bios if it is a onboard sound

just put in a card and new speakers.

plugged cable into original hole at first

then saw a red light on controller and thought that meant 'on'

works now. no more excuses not to do my homework.

needed this for my spanish class
