    Question Blocking lists... (Spamhaus, etc)

Lately Spamhaus has been blocking way too much legit email for me. What are some lists that people use? I'm in the mood to try something different.

    TIA.

I use bl.spamcop.net, cbl.abuseat.org as well as sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org... been playing with spamassassin for the stuff that still gets threw... works fairly well.. i'd say 30 - 40% gets denied with the rbl's... the rest is marked with spamassassin and submited to spamcop..

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I just recently started using spam software when I switched to do most of my surfing on my laptop. I'm obsessive compulsive, so deleting the 2 to 1 spam before reading my email(mostly subscriptions) was somewhat pleasurable.

My software, I don't know the name, works within MS Outlook. In my opinion, it works extremely well. Of course, being ignorant of other spam-stopping software, maybe most of them work transparently with Outlook.

I use Spamfigher it is Free http://www.spamfighter.com/Community_Default.asp
I gets 98% of all spam
It works from a central list (web-based) so when you black-ball a spam it will be back-balled for all the people that use Spamfigher

You still get a copy of the mail placed in a folder called Spamfigher if you want to view it
And thats good I get well over 100 emails every day I would hate to have my spam filter make a mistake this way I can check to see if all is OK

I have been very happy with spamassassin. It only lets 1 or 2 SPAM messages through a day and so far it has never blocked a valid message. It worked about 85% out of the box, and with a little training go it the rest of the way.

    Thanks for the tips.

I added bl.spamcop.net last week(when I posted) and thanks to you Ryan, I'm going to try adding cbl.abuseat.org this weekend.

I think my wife's main problem is that most of her mail comes from RoadRunner, Yahoo, and Google email addresses. At any given time some addresses to those are black listed it seems(even if it's only for a few hours or so).

    Thanks again guys!
