Sorry James, I've gone into retirement after 10 years of dedicated crunching.

I used a couple of the I7 rigs, along with the GTX285 and GTX280 video cards to build gaming boxes for two of my Nephews and another was made into a new Stats box with SSD drives for Bok.

I was afraid that was the case. I understand. Thanks for all you have done over the years.

    OH NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!
    Can't do that ol mate!
Not allowed, old crunchers never die and work harder when they retire . That's just my experience but I certainly will badly miss you and your hard work for both Free-DC and DC'ing in general for the last umpteen years. Sad day for us here now but understandable. I hope I can call you buddy still and you continue to keep in touch at least?

I've added my one spare core, it isn't very fast but better than nothing.

So I seem myself in the FDCPS page but I'm not listed on the "Free-DC" Team, can someone add me? And will this server e-mail me if I find a prime like it did on the NPLB one that Ironbits was running?

    Thanks,
    Jeff.

It will email you if your boxes find a prime.
It is a manual task to add you to the Free-DC team and set up email.

I can do this for you.
PM me the email addres you would like alerts sent to

    Edit:
    Done

FDCPS port 7773 is now the sole remaining active port
At time of posting it has 318,176 untested pairs sieved to depth 1405000000000000:M:1:2:258

Whilst I'm currently doing about 625 pairs per day it will take me over 500 days at that rate to complete the queue.
I'm not going to maintain that completion rate.
I would like it completed sooner.

So, if you can spare a core, or more, please jump in and LLRnet for some good old fashioned primes.
If you forgot how, start here:

    Dave,

I put one machine on this for now.

Something to think about, the lowest reportable primes on the Top 5000 prime pages are at n=986000, FDCPS is testing in the n=870000 range. Unless some comes along with several hundred machines there is no chance to catch up. If it was me I would drop everything below the Top 5000 trailing edge of reportable primes.

I am not keen on dumping pairs just because they won't get in the top5000

maybe 'flip' the sort order so the biggest are done first?

you'll see the top5000 flag on the right-side of the prime list page - a feature I added a little while ago.
the server gets the latest min-size from Dr Caldwell's site on a regular basis so the flag is up-to-date for each prime.
using the filter and sort, you can see how many you have on this site that are still in the top5000.

I've passed a core from BOINC to FDCPS. I don't know how much assistance it will be, but it seems to be doing at least a bit. (How do I join a team?)

    What a nice surprise. Welcome!

To join a team, simply nominate here which one you would like to join or even create a new team.

Since you have come along to assist, I'd better do something about reverse sorting the pair-queue and adding a few more of my cores back on.
I'll try to get that done today - playing man versus nature in the garden at the moment and nature is winning again, as usual :P

The pair re-sort is now done & the port is resumed.
We are now crunching top-down with a chance of top5000 primes

Awesome, looks like it makes quite the difference. Hopefully some top5000s come up! (More people participating would probably help too, but I guess you take what you get)

Ugh, somehow my LLR got stuck in a loop and it took me six days to notice. Well, at least it should be working again now.

Done. It will show up in the next stats cycle in about half an hour on FDCPS.
Any time in the next 4 hours on Free-DC stats.

If you want automatic Prime! notification, you can PM me your email address
(up to 2 email addresses if you want it to appear somewhere else) and I'll add that in too.
