Yeah, I'm in with what little I have.
So who's going to help out on this during December?
WCG Link
Currently got 3 ppl running WCG - first part of the challenges start next Wed (25/11) which is based on run time...so few days to get setup on WCG
Yeah, I'm in with what little I have.
Hmm, not much interest in the race here, eh?
I forgot the 25th is tomorrow already, I have some SIMAP work to finish off, then I'll be fully on board.
According to the link posted above, the race doesn't start until Dec. 1, so you have plenty of time.
Oh yeh, Ars is gonna kick you guyses ar$$e$
Fightin' words? Someone give Lauren a poke...
I see your Lauren, and raise a Whizbang!
Take that, Free-DC.
Move along please. Nothing happening here.
Agent GleanerC /out
Lauren doesn't do WCG I'm afraid..
hmm, I wonder if I could call in a favor from elsewhere though, nahh, it wouldn't be fair on the Ars guys
There are 2 parts to the race - Merry Christmas Around the World and Santa is coming to town both start 25/11 for 1 month; the other part is the Dec 09 Challenge and starts 01/12 :P
I'll see what I can scrape together and put on it tomorrow. Nothing like adding another project to my list. If only it supported GPUs then I could bring some serious firepower but alas we will have to make do with my lowely old CPUs.

WCG engaged. Full speed ahead.

Well I solved one problem (thank you Google), my I7 now has all 4 cores running plus the 4 extra threads which look like cores to I7. I did suspect it was a Winblows problem but as usual, my Filing cabinet brain works on a few days delay switch and this one annoyed me cos I knew I'd already corrected a possible cause. But it (msconfig-advanced-no. of cpu's) apparently resets itself when Win 7 throws a fault which triggers auto system repairs and the last state was before I unticked the # of cpus switch in an effort to get all 8 (4 real,4 HT if you still use that term) cores back. I still only do a one step change with any "experimenting" so I know what to undo if it goes wrong....old (and good ) habits die hard, especially when playing with a new OS or system.
So, upshot is, I can get back to full speed with WCG if I can persuade Bonk to let me. It is still only doing 4 tasks instead of 8 as before and seems Simap is also still going full steam this month instead of its' normal couple days at month start so not sure where to go with Simap.
Never much interest in stats nowadays but team challenges are another thing.
Like an ol` 8086, slow but serviceable.
One advantage of old age...nobody can tell you how much cake you can eat
I think one of my linux boxen is not setup for WCG, I'll try and get to it today..
Day 1 and 9th with 60 days, 13 hours, 25 minutes, 1 second
nice output BigRed!
We do what we can. Got my first 4 badges today.

So it looks like the race ends tonight, and we're currently situated in 30th place out of about 145 teams. Not bad.
I'll probably keep a few cores on WCG anyhow to pick up my next silver badge and maybe even a gold or two.
Well, I finally retired the duallie that was running on it, and built myself a 3.1 gig dual core box. That is now on it.I need to get some more ram for it. It holds 16 gig of 1066 ddr2,and I only have 2 gig in it.After I get some more case fans, I'm gonna try overclocking her a bit. My other X2 is still running on it.Not alot but every bit helps!
THE MORE I WORK ON MY COMPUTERS,THE MORE HAIR I LOSE!!
