It's that time of year again, ...

    for primes to be found.

    Code:
    Primes Found
    k n Digits Date Discovered
    5359 5054502 1521561 6 December 2003
    44131 995972 299823 6 December 2002
    46157 698207 210186 27 November 2002

    69109 1157446 348431 7 December 2002
My guess is January 14th, 2005. What's yours?

Heck, there could even be two primes. My second guess is December 22, 2004.

Please keep it light! For heavy math or statistics please go to this thread.

Humm, Since my 67607 by 7.25m was a little too optimistic I'll try again with something a little less so.

Either 24737 or 27653 this year.

My first guess the 19th a second would be the 27th, but of course we will all be on vacation and not notice until early Jan.

So for the heavy math... yup it's time we're well into finding our 7th prime, be nice to knock two out with an early 8th,

    7th 6.5M-10.1M
    8th 10.1M-16.8M

If we do knock out two shortly by some happen stance we should seriously consider the extended sieve range.

Were getting an update right Joe... Common Joe lets have the stats.

Well we can't rule out any December date yet. I was going to post that we could rule out a November date, but I'm not sure. It is too early to rule out a November date IMHO. It could take that long to verify the prime, and contact the finder.

    So, any more guesses?

    Hey Joe_O,

On this topic I would hope that the project admins would stop distributing for that prime k as soon as any client returns a possible prime.

Not sure if this is the case but if it is we would see a stop in the prp line for a particular k.

As you said with these larger and larger n's and christmas, it could take days for the prime to be verified. Over that period depending upon the k-weight etc, we could loose a day or two of total project time.

Well, no one took me seriously. We had so few guesses.

But then we are all winners, we found a prime!

    Actually Joe,

Death had predicted the 6th and someone else predicted the 29th of december??

I think everyone just feels it's been a long time coming, they always come when least expected.
