There is a new BOINC project called SHA-1 Collision Search Graz which is a cryptography project trying to find a collision in the SHA-1 hashing algorithm. More information about how the project works at the university research group page.
The BOINC page is here:

There is a new project called Eternity2 with the aim of solving the Eternity II puzzle. You need to own the actual puzzle to participate. There is a prize of $2,000,000 (two million) USD for whoever finds the solution. If this project finds the solution then the prize money is split 50/50 with the successful participant.
The puzzle itself has an RRP of £35 in the UK or $50 in US.

Now it would be nice if the Statstool Config actually had a selection to enter your project account number so the score of your SHA-1 project would show up on your signature? Sorry Bok, I just found it odd that the project is shown with all the data but no where to enter your list for the signature, probably overwhelmed with other work duties to remember to place that link in the project. When You have time my friend. :Pokes:Quote:

My one lonely box is struggling to keep Free-DC in the top 25.
Seems to be steady work.
Pulled one of my boxen off Milkyway and onto NQueens.
Looks like we have stormed back up the table already.
Lets head for that top ten.
Anyone else fancy a box or two on NQueens?
in recent average credit on NQueens AND we are up to 14th overall from 25th.
Great job everyone so far.
Another recent project. TSP site
Lauren - wanna try breaking it? :rotfl: I heard the server is a ThinkPad
DP is currently leading the way for FDC.
Na I never did like Salesman so I am not going to help them with there Problem :lmao:Quote:

Here is a new BOINC project out of Harved with a very professional looking site:
http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu/go/
"The Clean Energy project uses computational chemistry and the willingness of people to help look for the best molecules possible for: organic photovoltaics to provide inexpensive solar cells, polymers for the membranes used in fuel cells for electricity generation, and how best to assemble the molecules to make those devices. By helping us search combinatorially among thousands of potential systems, you can contribute to this effort."
Am I the only one that obsessively visits that site every few days to click on every possible link to get updates? It involves two things I'm very much interested in, DCing and clean energy science(as opposed to global warming science, which seems like bunkum a lot of the time). If Stephen King were involved in the project, I'd need to start taking tranquilizers. ;)
Could we add Artificial Intelligence System?
It's attempting to simulate the human brain.
The site isn't very pretty, but it's a cool concept, and I've never had trouble with the client, though it's been a few weeks since I've run it.

I added it at least a month ago...

Bok
It doesn't show on stats.free-dc.org in the big list...
Jason must ahve heard footsteps and started returning WUs today :)
nope, I'm not retrofitting projects back to the old style any more, concentrating instead on getting these live.. which may be end of this week.
use this
as the definitive list..
Bok
this is a new project that hasssnt been updating on FREE-DC.
Bok anything you can add as to why it isnt being updated???
i know it prolly server side on their end but just wana make sure...
yup.Server-side.
They aren't updating their xml files, probably don't have the cronjob set up correctly..
I've posted about it over there and also emailed Kamran who is running the project.
Bok
done.
just an oversight... :)
Ars definitely needs some :Pokes:. Oh, wait a minute, yes, we are :bonk:, I couldn't find a kicking your butt emoticon.
Are we going to have a forum for VTU?
sure.
added
Dang, you're fast. :)
Don't forget to add it into ??? so it shows up when new messages are left in there, like the one she just made to let Fozzie know he is going to be leap frogged in VTU ;)
Done.
Do you not know how to do that ? It's pretty simple, here goes :)
Go to Control-Panel, VBA CMPS->Default Settings and click the 'Recent Posts' and use CTRL to add in the new forum which won't be highlighted :) Then save.
Nope, I didn't. I'm sure the question was directed at IB but thanks for the info. :)
I'm sure I'll remember that in about 3 months when we have to add another Forum
Hay IB :Pokes: did you know that you can
Go to the Control-Panel, VBA CMPS->Default Settings and click the 'Recent Posts' and use CTRL to add in the new forum which won't be highlighted Then save. :hugging:
Good to know!
You know what we need is a list of all current BOINC projects and a link to attach with
Like this
ABC@Home = http://abcathome.com/
AlmereGrid = http://boinc.almeregrid.nl/
Doable as a sticky I'm sure.
Sync(Boinc Projects.thread(this), Stats.thread('new projects');
The stats pages all have links to the projects.. perhaps a small 'home' icon could be placed on each row on the index page which links to the project home ?
I suppose that's possible a little icon all depends on the size of it really, hmm
dang just checked to see if there was a web / wingdings "character" we could use nope...
