The wife just called me to say that our cable line has been cut by some workers close by :bang: Luckily they are going to get it fixed this afternoon...

That just totally sucks.

Damn cable company. :swear:

More than likely it's not the cable companies fault... some yahoo probably started digging for a drive-way or septic or whatever and never thought to call for a utility location(UFPO). :(

All fixed...

now I just need to find my ip address :) The wife will be loading up a certain page, from which I can check the ip from the logs :help:

Why not just get her to goto http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and give you the IP listed on there?

She was tied up with the baby. I just tried my old IP address and it hadn't actually changed :) Not too many people on the premium RR network I guess

I used to use the no-ip service, but didn't have much use as I wasn't serving webpages or anything. I need to restart my script which sends my ip address to this server every few hours, that's the easiest way....though it hasn't actually changed in well over a year.

lol hmm, find nice shoval, find ID 10 T that did the digging, engage shovel in an overhead swinging motion making contact with ID 10 T's head in the rear section (doesn't matter where as doubt there is much you can damage!)
yeah DYNDNS does the same you can now do static ip's as well from it ;) www.ipchicken.com works too

Bok I thought Cable service used a static IP system

You can get a static ip, but you have to pay a lot more (basically for a business account) - it's a ripoff really..

I get a free static IP on my DSL connection at home in UK. Also got a free upgrade from 512k to 2mbit, w00t!

amazing that they don't give out statics here really..

I'm on 8mbit myself ;)

That'll teach you not to go on travel. :) Seriously, glad to see it got fixed. That can be so frustrating.
