This project has been dead for so long that it makes no sense to continue crunching.
Congrats to XS for No. 1 on a project that nobody else is doing. :lmao:

A dead project where a lot of members are cheating.

It's not a dead project... Just because Free-DC pulled out doesn't make it a dead project. I have mad respect for FDC. Your team has some of the best members around! But we aren't going to follow the herd just because you say so.
XS doesn't feel the need to have the Sengent hold our hand and constantly reassure us that the project is "Still on"
FDC said the same exact things about the DF project. But that didn't stop us and many others from running it.
Just because FDC commands so much respect you can't call a project dead and make it so.
XS will finish our run to 1st and pad our lead and move on. We too realize that there are problems with the project... But we won't cut and run until we do our part... and I think turning in the most results of any team can be called our part.
As for the cheaters... screw em! They need to cheat if they want to compete. :D

Free DC isn't the only team to give up on D2ol and move on.

We asked on numerous occasions for information about what all our results were going towards. The project admins were evasive at best so if you are paying a large amount to your electricity supplier you want to be sure it's worthwhile.
Sengent failed to show the project was actually doing anything with all the £'s or $'s that people voluteered to it.
So many of us pulled the plug and moved to other projects such as FAD and now Rosetta that DO feedback on what everyone's efforts are going towards.
D2OL TSC may not be dead but they seem like severely wasted cycles compared to better run and more fruitful projects.
On another point we never bailed out of DF, we in fact poured more resources into it than any other team, bar none.
Rodzilla
Your team have poured considerable resiurces into a dead project.
Many many teams have pulled out of the project not just FDC.
Speaking Frankly you know this is true but choose to ignore it.
You want cred for getting No1 in a dead project ? you posted in the wrong place.
If you and your team want respect earn it by competing in a live project.
Hi Rod,
well congrats in getting to #1 and an excellent job in rallying everyone together for the cause too. This is a very good example of teamwork!!
I for one would love to see you guys run Rosetta, it's a great chance to get in fairly early and this seems to be the main project DPC are running so you'd have a chance at :stomp: them in a project they are actively going for!
I'm not going to speak too much of my feelings for D2OL/TSC as they are already widely known..but a lot of people here got very frustrated with the project and it still shows today. Many here are interested in getting real-world results, the competition and points are a very welcome secondary benefit. We thought (and still do) we were getting that from DF, then were disappointed time after time with D2OL, FaD was certainly promising and now Rosetta seems the most promising of all. There is also a lot of feedback from the admins, so it's very pro-active

I will also offer my congratulations to XS for setting a goal and sticking with it despite having some of the same concerns people have expressed.
It's your decision what to crunch and where to spend your $$ and you held together to achieve that goal.
Who knows where a breakthrough will occur??
Hopefully some of you will join Rosetta when you finally reach a point where you can keep first. Lets see what XS can do there. As Fozzie always tells me "Bring it, don't sing it"
(OK, probably a bad example as I usually end up stomping him a couple weeks later) :rotfl:
Does anyone know where some of the big players from FAD went??(like the Russians)

It seems the Russians don't like Rosetta because of the Optimized CLients floating around.

Thought I'd sneak in here and say hi!
Unless I retire from DC, which I will do if I'm wrong about DPC_ICA_COWS, I should be competing against you gentlemen in Rosetta shortly, as part of an XS team.
Looking forward to that day.

As do we DD :)
I think you'll enjoy Rosetta!

Read through the Rosetta Forum (http://www.free-dc.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=90).
Rosetta tips for XS members :
1. In your general preferences, set keep in memory = yes.
2. make sure you allocate enough diskspace, percentage
3. Change the network preferences to talk to network to 1 day or so.
4. Use the optimized clients (see the dedicated sticky in the Rosetta forum here)
5. Install and use boincview to manage multiple machines.
6. Stomp other teams, but not Free-DC.
7. Have fun!!

For those who are interested in the outcome of the DPC_ICA_COWS saga, I am pleased to inform that they have just dug their own grave. XS forums are down now, so I am going to bed(it's 2 am). Hopefully it will be back up in the morning and I will announce the details.

A somewhat belated thank you to PCZ for attempting to see justice done.
Also our gratitude to all at FDC for being great hosts and friends during this brief stay. I promise we will be back as friendly competitors in Rosetta. I cannot speak for others from XS D2OL, but I'm going to devote some of my rigs to help FDC in Rosetta(ouch, it's like stepping on my own foot, but what the hell).
Thanks again.

I want to thank FDC for putting up with XS and being gracious hosts for our brief stay on your team. You all have been great and we really appreciate the support and all the feedback regarding this issue....
Thanks for believing in us! We owe FDC a big one. My newest rig will crunch R@H for FDC right along side DDTUNG until he moves his R@H production to XS, and all other rigs will continue on D2OL for a bit longer.
PCZ thanks for supporting us. And Gopher, you definately got your 10th spot back, congrats.
Happy New Year and best wishes for 2006. I look forward to doing battle with one of the most respected DC teams on the net.
