Lab rats at Microsoft Research and the University of Michigan have teamed up to create prototypes for virtual machine-based rootkits that significantly push the envelope for hiding malware and that can maintain control of a target operating system.

The proof-of-concept rootkit, called SubVirt, exploits known security flaws and drops a VMM (virtual machine monitor) underneath a Windows or Linux installation.

That's it....gimme an Abbacus...

I wonder how long it'll take me to find a prime for Seventeen or Bust using one of those instead of my PC. :)

If I understand a friend of mine correctly (who is proficient with the Abbacus), it doesn't take long at all. I believe the trick is the mental switch to base 5 for shortcuts instead of base 2 or base 10.

I'll ask him again if you wish. He has a very interesting experience to tell about it.
