I have a problemming of getting a new dualcore P4 running 1 client on each cpu core.
My hardware: P4 D 830, asus p5vd1-x mainboard, (at the moment) 1 x 512 MB RAM. A fresh install of windows XP MCE 2005. In device manager i do see 2 cpu's. I've disabled HT in the bios.
I've installed sob as a service, without further setings it just started up 1 client, after a few hours the speed was about 2.47x.xxx cEMs/sec. I then started playing with a few more parameters on the sobsrv.exe. First i tried -o, without any result. Again just 1 client is started.
Then I tried -p2, then 2 clients did start up, but at half the normal speed (one with 1.1xx.xxx and on with 1.3xx.xxx), so I guess it is just running 2 clients on 1 core instead of 1 client on each core.
Then I tried -p:2:0, after I rebooted I could only seeone client in the systray, but there were 2 in de taskmanager, both running 50%. And the speed of the client I could see was good, wel above the 2.3xx.xxx. So I thought everything was ok. Untill I restarted the machine. Then again there were 2 clients in de systray running at half speeds.
This is my current config:
C:\Program Files\SB>sobsvc.exe -d
CPU Affinity = Separate, 2 Clients
AutoRestart OFF
TrueIdle = FALSE
NormalizeXP = 40da34
Monitor and Restart = FALSE
Restart Stuck Clients = FALSE
Keep Icons Visible = FALSE
WU Queue Size = 0
Autodial Type = 0
Periodic Restart = 0
Is there anyone who can help me with this problem?

I run an AMD dual core but it's pretty much the same idea. Try installing SOB in 2 different directories. You can run both as a service, and set the affinity for each. Task Manager --->Processes, then right click on the program ---> Set Affinity. Cpu 0 for one and CPU 1 for the other.

Thanks for your reply, I'll give it a try. Unfortionally I do not have acces to that machine anymore, I will visit there in a few weeks. Until then just 1 core is being used, what a shame :swear:

Are you sure you're running it properly? -- make sure you do NOT set it to "auto-start on windows boot" - this setting MUST be off.
I recommend simply running sobsvc -i to install, sobsvc -o to configure the number of clients and affinity, and then sobsvc -k to make sure it restarts the clients each time you login - this causes the tray icons to show for each client. It may flash the "are you sure you want to exit SOB" box a couple times, just ignore it and it will go away and restart.
once you've done all that, make sure you go to your services and restart the service manually to see your settings in action.
You must launch the sb client manually first to set the configuration options like priority (i recomment low), team, user, and I usually recommend "transmit intermediate blocks" also.
You will want each client to run at 50% I think - that makes sense since each is using one processor.

No, he wants to run each client at 100% instead of 50%.

No, he wants to run each client at 100% instead of 50%.
That's just the way the Task Manager looks at it. It only reads up to 100%. Divide that by 2 cores and 50% each is 100% of total CPU power.

Right - Windows XP takes all your processing power and calls it 100% - since the SB client can only run on a single processor at a time, you have to run one instance per processor (or logical processor even if you have HT) in order to eat up 100% of your total CPU time.
I got the impression that he was seeing odd behavior where only a single client appeared to be running - I had some problems like this when I first tried to use sobsvc - and i found that one of the major issues is when you specify the client to "auto-start with windows" or whatever... that must be turned off before using sobsvc to config the clients.
Once it's all set up properly - each client should have "Client 1"/"Client 2" in the title bars... they will each have a separate registry key, and each will be using a different k/n pair. If you use sobsvc -k, each will be guaranteed to show in the system tray, even when logging off and on again (it restarts them to re-create the tray icons)

This is strange. You can turn HT off in the BIOS while the CPU does not support HT. This option should be greyed out in the BIOS like my BIOS does with my none HT Northwood.
The P4 D 830 supports Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology:
Processor voltage and frequency adjust based on the needs of the application at hand which can result in less power usage and heat production.
