A slight temptation for an upgrade of the server

I was informed of some new servers available at http://www.servermatrix.com where this box is hosted..

This one looks nice, though it would be $200 per month rather than the $130 I pay right now.. dual core would certainly help with some of the bottlenecks with all the stats running though

P4 3.2, 1Gb Ram, 80Gb HD + 1500Gb per month transfer.

How much control do you have on this server, where free-dc.org is currently hosted? Do you have root access? Or do you have some kind of "guest" access to run the webserver and the databases?

Total root access, it's a dedicated server :) I installed the webserver and DB myself... I run a couple of other websites on it as well, but nothing with any major traffic, just my own and a few for friends.

Wow, almost $400/month for the Opteron server? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy the hardware and give it to them and just pay for the bandwidth? :)

They probably don't offer that option... Bok, what you need is a nice new 24Meg DSL line and host it at home! We are supposed to be getting that in the new year or two here.
