With the availability of the Internet across the world, there is sometimes a confusion of dates, some people(Americans, for instance) use month/day/2-digit year, while others(Europeans, I think) use day/month/year, and SOME people, especially the computer savvy use a 6 or 8-digit number, 060603 or 20060603 for today.

I have a recommendation for a new rule that could apply to everyone that uses the 26-letter(not including the symbols that sometimes go next to or over them) alphabet. Instead of the numbers 1-12 for the months, we could use the letters A-L, A for January through L for December. So today would be G0306 for Americans and 03G06 for Europeans. Also, we could choose a letter(not necessarily 'y') that would denote that the next 2 digits denote a year.

I know that this might get the same flack as the Metric system did in the US.(Actually, much less, since I'm not that influential:D ) But what do you guys and gals think of my idea?

Why mess with something if it isn't (overly) broken? :-)

I have no life, so sometimes I'll post stuff just so I have something to look forward too. :)

Europeans use both ways: month/day/2-digit year......day/month/year
I prefer to use day/month/year because it's equal when you write the date in an extensive way, the two have to match! I think it's wrong when you change it to month/day/year.

You write: 2nd of March of 2006
In portuguese: 2 de Março de 2006

Or, you could always use the system that most government institutions use, a la 05JUN06, which says '5th of June, 2006'. It works fairly well, and if you need the 4-digit year, you can use that too.
