View Full Version : Number of blocks in a test.
Are all the current test roughly the same size block wise. ?
All the ones i have started recently seem to be around 6300.
However one i have just started (k=24737, n=10374751) is only 4469 blocks.

In your case 4*10.374751^3 = 4467
( Approximately, of course ! )
Sorry but that doesn't answer my question.
I already read that.
Well, I guess it's the different n. Before, you had always tests of n= 11M+, and now you got the one you mentioned. Why is it still in the queue? Somebody dropped it, and it was reassigned. Be happy, it will finish sooner.
H.
Thanks for the info.
I should have phrased my question better.
Why has my current test got so few blocks compared to all those i have done recently.
Is a better way to have worded it.
I thought at first it was an old test that my PC had downloaded years ago but sb.log seems to indicate otherwise.

[Sat Aug 26 03:49:02 2006] got proth test from server (k=24737, n=10374751)

PCZ, are you reading carefully ???
The number of the blocks in every test is depending ONLY on the formula I wrote.
At this moment ALL crunchers are taking tests from the dropped-tests queue. So, as hhh wrote , a test with a n smaller than the "current" was dropped by another user or by the server (if there was a month without reporting to the server even a block!!!). Because of the server's algorithm, he rearanges the queue by the value of n , so, this dropped test stands at first posision ! At this moment everyone who is getting test, will receive this one - with the lowest n !
If there is second-pass dropped test, it is possible to take THIS test - it will be under 1300 blocks (at the current value of n for the secondpass test)
I hope that I an hhh made the answer clear to You ! :)

That was my work unit GIVE IT BACK:harhar:
I guess not.
All the algebra is greek to me, i just crunch.
Plain english however i do understand.
4*(n/10^6)^3
n=10374751
/1,000,000
=10.374751
10.374751^3 = 1116.691078757890686751
x4
= 4466.764315031562747004
Near enough i think
My head hurts
