I believe you have to actually purchase the Eternity 2 puzzle to legally participate in that BOINC project. But it's because of the legal requirements with the Eternity 2 puzzle people, rather than having anything to do with BOINC.

What I'm curious to know is whether you could crunch this project and promise the winnings to a friend if you found the answer; and if you could do that, would you have to do it under their user account or could you get the cobblestones for yourself.
