Would it be possible to add the ability to keep track of how many WUs there are cached on the HDD, and display it someplace on the screen, while the client is running? TIA :)

While waiting for that info to be presented on the text client.. you can use dfGUI from http://gilchrist.ca/jeff/dfGUI/ to show how many structures are cached on the hard drive, waiting to be uploaded.
(or use it to benchmark your system)

I would like this for this feature to work in the *nix clients as well ;)

In case you havent figured it out yet, we use exactly the same code on Unix as on Windows. Except for a few extra 'tweaks' needed to get it to run on Windows in some cases, since they come near violating several ANSI standards. All features are the same on all OSes. This one has already been added for the next release so please stop asking.
