Can't seem to find the answer to this.. is it possible to upgrade from Vista Business 32bit to Vista Ultimate 64bit without a re-install ?

Bok, installing any version of Vista is NOT an upgrade! "Upgrade" implies an improvement. Vista to XP or Suse 10.3 or Ubuntu would be an upgrade. :D

Sorry, have no answer to that question.

There is no 'upgrade' path from x86 to x64.
The 64-bit Windows Vista install is actually a 64-bit install executable.

You should perform a clean installation, wiping everything and starting with a clean slate.
Don't forget to back up all of your data first!

You will need to use the phone activation because it was already activated. :(

Be sure to get the appropriate 64bit NIC driver prior to going 64bit. ;)

ugh, can't be bothered to do a full re-install right now anyway. I'll leave it be. I only wanted it so I could squeeze a bit more performance out of Mame (www.mamedev.org)

I have a number of Linux 64bit's but I need a windows one for work really.. I know the XP 64 bit is crap, but from what I read the Vista 64 bit version is actually fairly well supported from a driver standpoint. I do have 64bit nic support, so not worried about that :p

and have had zero driver issues with it.

Solid as a rock too.
