Hi bok - in stats4 could you add a column to the left of the Project Rank in the sorted lists eg Today and Last Update? This will make the display more useful to me and is in keeping with the style of the original stats pages. Thanks, Vaughan.

A column to the left of Project Rank that does what? ;)
Would that be a Column for Team Rank, Local Rank, or not Rank but something else? :)
Sorts on Column headings are coming and I know because I've seen them there in some projects...

Sorry James perhaps I didn't express myself clearly. The additional column in the sorted stats, as is used in the original (and best) stats pages imho is a helpful aid. It is used to see how one is travelling in the daily output or last update stakes. I use this as a quick guide whether I need to add more cores or instances to eOn to maintain my World rank.

I think I'll make it an optional feature so as not to use up real estate on the page.

I'm so tired of hearing about the old stats now, that I'm turning them off monday or tuesday night so stats.free-dc.org will point to the new ones

Oops sorry bok. Maybe its just I'm more familiar with them and their layout having used them so much. Credit to you for making them available to everyone.

Bok

that's ok, the pm's and mails I've had are much worse... :)

Old ones take up some much more of my time babysitting them, they really are pretty poor compared to the new ones.

I'll 'potentially' make some different layouts for the new ones.

Somethings odd with the Country Rank stats. If I lookup my personal combined stats it shows I'm world #9 in BOINC Rieselsieve but the Country Rank shows me at 399th.

I'll look into putting a redirect on any pages or a custom 404 or something similar so the user will go to the correct page until people update their links..

If yes, could you check the links please.

They do, I was doing it all fine, but in my 'projects' table I didn't have it set as a boinc project for some reason, so it was trying to display data from the nonboinc tables..

I just noticed little silver and bronze crowns appearing next to some crunchers' names. Are they based on RAC, weekly credit, daily output or something else? I think they're a great idea - let's one see the "master" cruncher for a certain project in no time!

alpha
06-06-2008, 02:34 AM
Yeah I noticed those too and was a little confused because they are "donor" icons (check the filenames of the images). I've seen something similar used on some BOINC project stats pages, like Rieselsieve (http://boinc.rieselsieve.com/orig/show_user.php?userid=7514) to represent donors. If the icon is being used to represent high production levels, something different should probably be used to avoid confusion. But maybe we're just jumping the gun. :)

edit: aah, does it indicate donators for the free-dc stats?

BlackMountainCow
06-06-2008, 07:08 AM
That might actually be the case. I donated to Free-DC twice and got 2 silver crowns next to my user name. Now, I just donated again ... let's see if I get a third crown or something else changes.

Bok
06-06-2008, 07:55 AM
It is for donors. Subject to change, as I'm just testing it all out!

But it's not fully automatic at all yet. I have a script which will go through and set the donor level for a user in all projects based on their id's in statstool. I ran it for a few known donors last night. It's way beyond time that I recognized these people.

Biggest problem I have is that I have a list of people who have donated over the years but no current way to easily tie the email address back to a user (hmm, perhaps I can use the email addresses in vbulletin to check..)

It's going to take a while to get it sorted out.

I do like the idea of 'special' crunching awards though. That would be pretty easy to automate :) Different icons though. I'll get with the resident graphic artist (Gopher) and see if we can come up with something..

One other thing Bok: You have the buttons Top, Previous, Next, Bottom at the top of each stats page. Would it be too much of work to also add them to bottom of each stats page, like between the members' list and the opportunities/threats list, so one doesn't have to scroll all the way up again to get to the next page?

Also, but that might only be the case for me, the "Bottom" button doesn't work. A click doesn't do anything. Just me?

Last but not least: Will you also add the "Donation Button" and "Donation received" display to the sats again? I guess it's pretty good to have it right in people's face, so it gets more attention.

Thx for all you work man!

Bok

Bok

Having to side scroll is slightly annoying. Would it be possible to have the "Navigation" sidebar area hide-able?
On the team page, it only goes down to the bottom of the pie charts anyway then theres just a blank area under it.

Hi Bok,

The new stats site looks really good.

However, the always a "however", I fetch AMD User stats from your site ONLY if it's too difficult, or too slow from the original site.

I pull your stats into MS excell using one of their import routines. But your new stats don't want to play ball. If I select an individual table, or combination of tables from a particular page, I get nothing or the wrong data.

PM me on AMD Users if you would like more info.

Cheers

well, might be easier if I just write a php script for you...

I've done one for Spacehead over at TA to get data into the format he likes (need to tweak it a bit more) but you can see what it's like here (http://stats.free-dc.org/spacehead.php?proj=poe&teamid=131)

You can still get what you want from the page itself, but not directly.. as the data is populated via an AJAX call into a div, so it doesn't show up in page source :p

let me know which way you'd like. I can show you how to get to the actual page (with no css or anything)

Lauren2u - screen SIZE has nothing to do with it it's video card resolution that has everything to do - your probably running a 17" monitor at 1280 x 1024.. Not everyone runs at that, I always aim at 1024

Your Wrong size does Matter ask any woman:rock:

I use a 22" LCD here I do not get any side scroll bar even at the low resolution of 1024 .It Can go up to 1600 But like it around 1400 my self

But I do get a side scroll bar with 19"on down to 15 and I get Less of the scroll bar as the Size increases
So Size does play into it as well as some drivers do to I believe

PS I even tried it on a 32" at 1024 No bar

Okay Size does matter when a woman is involved but we aint't talking about them, hmm 1024 no side scroll odd - looked at it and it seems to want around about 1280 x 1024 as minimum unless of course that's IE being naughty and ignoring CSS Rules - which figures (will check this out).
Oh and thinking of playing with the layout as Bok said thinking of thiner borders round the navigation panel, just a neatness thing (or maybe a complience thing).

In the Boinc RieselSieve personal stats page and looking at the Threats section what does the Daily Gain column mean? For example I am about to be overtaken by Banshee with an average of 357,411 but the Daily Gain is shown as 334.

I'm not too sure. and unfortunately I can't tell now as he has already passed you.

Looking at lumiukku's page who is next in line, it seems to be correct with a daily gain of 370,000.

http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=user&proj=rsi&name=3160

I'll have a poke around some others and see if they match up. As gopher says, it's a fairly simple algorithm to work it out, just based on the calculated 7 day averages of each user.

(we have debated whether to flip the numbers to positive too ... )

The nonboinc stats update (right now) the actual tables, which is a mistake. Only really affects F@H as they are fairly meaty updates with 1M+ users, so if you catch it at a point where it's doing an update, you'll get that as the table is locked. It's a 4-5min windows once every 6 six hours.

With Boinc projects, I do it differently, I run through each and every project updating to temp tables, then do a fast copy to the real tables, so they are never really unavailable to the web.

I've got a script testing right now to make the nonboinc ones do it like this to alleviate this exact problem... it will also fix a few other problems at the same time and make updates a little more snappier.
