Ye Olde Faithful had downtime of only ~ 2 hours in almost 4.5 years..and that was only for a RAM upgrade..

Running at 100% cpu for the vast majority of that time..

4.5 years, wow! with only 2 hours downtime and 100% cpu-usage...

tell us more about the machine!! OS, configuration of CPU, RAM, ... and what drove it to 100% cpu :D

Well, it was in one of the premier datacenters in the US..., no idea on the machine itself other than it was a P4 3.2, 3Gb Ram running RHEL3..

100% cpu, well stats running mostly, interspersed with various projects I had soaking up the extra cycles :)

MMM I have had crunchers running Windows run for 425 days and they would have kept running except for a brownout

I assume you're not including rebooting after security updates (or else I really hope it wasn't attached to the internet)

I turn Off Updates and firewall at install> And yes It was attached to the Internet
No one here uses my Crunchers they Only do DC-ing so they need to send back WU
It is when people use the pc Like opening programs or installing new programs that it gets bogged down over time.
Or use it to browse and pick up spy ware that it stats acting funny
