The new clients have made this project interesting again.

Looking at the stats FDC seems to be going backwards in the rankings :(
If there is interest i will move over my boxes, and GPU's.

Startup team i am currently producing for has overtaken FDC :) you didn't rise to the challenge most dissapointing.

IB you gaming 24/7 or does that 280 have idle cycles.

I'll go with the flow and leave history out of this conversation for as long as I can ;)
I see where [H] has a countdown to 500 GPU thread and last time I checked it was around 350, that's a lot of firepower.
I played with it for a bit, but at the rate it eats watts and generates heat, I thought it would be best to wait until the rates go down on electricity around here.

I do the odd WU here and there because I'm crawling to a milestone I set myself long ago. However, I have no suitable GPU and the points per WU vary too much for my liking.

They say the SMP client is only suitable if you're running it on a machine which is dedicated to F@H 24/7 and even then it might need babysitting. It doesn't like to be interrupted or closed. However, it is supposed to give correspondingly generous points per WU. I still haven't tried it yet, because those are some heavy demands IMHO.

History ??
If we dont care for this project then i can redeploy, easy either way.

No other projects have a GPU client though and that is what rekindled my interest.

I recently just put my PS3 on F@H and two computers. Nothing major, but I noticed no one was really doing F@H, so I just threw them on there. To be honest I don't really like F@H at all, but it meets two requirements of mine.

1) It's not BOINC (praise baby jesus!)
2) Not much support there, so I'll do a little crunching to help out.

Well seeing that the GPU client doesn't interfere with Boinc, good to go :)
Why are there two of you in there Brian?

Did you forget? ;)
Should I wait for you to catch up to me? :p

My PS3s stay on OGR until the project ends.

Where did you find a PS3 optimized DNET client? I'd definitely much rather run OGR on my PS3 than F@H. Are you running it via Linux on the PS3 or just via a USB stick? Let me know! I have Ubuntu installed on my PS3, but I haven't gotten around to getting the wireless to work on it.

If you already have *nix on there, 99% of the battle is over.
Use the NIC on it, cache a TON of wus, go off net
You can download the released dnet client for Cell and just run it. It auto detects all 7 cores :)

Unfortunately, my PS3 is nowhere close to a router, so even a wired connection isn't a possibility. Obviously the wireless works fine within the PS3 OS. I guess if I want to run OGR, I will need to get to work on the Ubuntu kernel to get it to recognize the PS3 wireless device.

Oh, and you can't turn it off, pick it up (cause it's so BIG and HEAVY) and take it into the next room to fill er up ??? :p ;)
I use ssh to gain access to the shell ;)

I walked enough in Europe... Maybe when I recover I'll take the PS3 for a walk down the hall and sneaker net it.

Dont Panic !!
It got too damm hot in the house over the last few days so i shut the folding rigs down.
Have fired up again this morning, so you will see output today.

Edit
Assignment server seems to be having issues today.
GPU clients aren't getting work :(

Good to know. I noticed that there was problems with the GPU work units late last night/early this morning, so I fired up Boinc for a bit.

and a reasonably new ATI radeon would I run 2 clients?

PCZ

Might be best just to run 2 SMP clients on the q6600.
Have a read over on http://foldingforum.org/viewforum.php?f=42
