OK, at first when I was informed that SB had been featured in the 17th edition of the NSDL Scout Report for Math,
Engineering, and Technology I wasn't all that interested. This is because, like you, I didn't know who the NSDL was. I assumed they were some scum-of-the-earth company who "features" your website and then asks for a "donation" to give you advertising. SB is located in several such sites already. ;)

We're also located in many directories with outdated info and generally poor descriptions of our project, such as

http://www.aspenleaf.com/distributed/ap-math.html
http://www.rechenkraft.net/project.php
http://www.mersenne.org/projects.htm (thanks Woltman!)

Imagine my surprise when I find they have actually done an informed writeup of my project that isn't just cutting and pasting the homepage! I was floored. Someone actually took the time to figure out what we're doing before linking to us. Another point I like is that they say nice things.

But here's the kicker folks: the NDSL is the digital library for the NSF (aka the National mother-$%#ing Science Foundation).

From what I can gather, this means SB now has a scouting report for the NSF. The same National Science Foundation that either funds or infulences the funding of 99% of scientific research in academia. SETI@home has a scouting report online. For some reason they don't seem to have trouble being funded anymore. :)

There is the scouting report for SETI@home in the same directory

Here is our scouting report:

It’s exciting to think that we may be able to work on this project with grants in the future. That was my dream over the summer and I’d say this is a huge step in the right direction.

BTW, I have no idea how they even found us due to the fact that I haven’t yet gone out of my way to recruit people or advertise. I plan to very soon though... next version.

For now, let's just say Dave and I are totally geeked. It's exciting to have the attention of the NSF. Hope everyone else is proud to be part of something special enough for that attention. :D
