I started a thread over at AnandTech but figured i'd post here too, to see if i can get this figured out.
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=39&threadid=2230074&enterthread=y
After looking threw my logs it appears i've processed the same test 4 times & it wants to process again.
There might be more helpful info in the other thread if you'd like to read that but here below is a copy/paste of my logs.
I'm running the standard client, single instance, not as a service.
Registry show the following values:
k= 22699
n= 15771790
The lone 'z file' in my SB directory is z5771790 but when i start the client it wants to run
k=55459
n= 15103354
I fetch/flush from SBQueue if that makes any difference.

On July 26 i finish a test & get a new one. Note the k & n values of the new test.

I usually turn off my computer during hot days so at some point things get messed up & look what test shows as finishing. I never noticed anything was wrong.

Thats pretty odd...
Which operating system are you using and do you have admin rights to the computer.
To me it looks as though everytime you reboot your restart the same test again. If that is true what's happening is you have some prgram restoring your registry or not allowing reg access... (vista <- not sure havn't played with it yet, some type of AV software, rebooting the computer from an image (networked computer), can't think of anything else right now)
Not giving SoB reg access is a big no no, basically your test k and n is stored in the registry.

Which super sucks the big weenie. sob should not be using the registry, and would eliminate this problem completely.

Windows XP Home... yes, i have admin rights. This is my main home computer.
I did, earlier this summer, switch from running as admin full time to a limited account for my daily routine.
Same setup for AV/malware as iv'e been running for a long time. AntiVir free edition, Zone Alarm free edition(7.0.337.000), SpyBot free(& Tea Timer) & AdAware free.

Did you use System Restore?
I have only see this after system restore.

Make sure the new limited user has write access to the registry keys that store the info for SoB.
My guess is you were working on the reoccuring work unit when you switched to the new user. It can read the info from the registry but fails to update the keys.

How do i know if i have write access???
On closer inspection, when i follow the path in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->SOFTWARE-->LhDn-->sob-->cache
there is also a cache2 with the k & n values for the test that keeps reprocessing (k=55459, n=15103354)
Any ideas on how to get rid of that?

On the left pane of regedit right click on the key. One of the options is permissions. Make sure "everyone" or at least the user you log in as has permission to write.
