Apparently PrimeGrid is focusing on the sieving effort with their upcoming Winter Solstice Challenge (http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=1138). Traditionally, these challenges have seen significant progress made for whatever project they focus on. Here's hoping that many n are removed!

That's great news, maybe this will help pave the way towards more primes in the new year?

Once the challenge is over, is there a way to calculate how much SB benefited from the extra sieving?

not good that they use outdated sr2sieve.
they can simply increase the output for 10%.

December 17, 2008 the leading edge was at 18025600. December 19, 2008 the leading edge was at 19179274.

Way to go PrimeGrid!

It looks like PrimeGrid is at it again with their upcoming Showers to Flowers Challenge (http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=1304&nowrap=true#14975). If this challenge goes as well as the previous, it will be a good three days indeed for SB.

The two day challenge has started. The attached graph shows the status just after the contest started. The black represents the work reported in April.

If my calculations are correct, they are crunching 14720G per hour!

Mighty impressive!

The results are Final!

What an incredible amount of work completed! Over 1169T was crunched in the 48 hours of the Challenge. Over 389K tasks were returned resulting in over 11.1M cobblestones awarded. PrimeGrid's overall (Challenge + regular work) daily record was set on the second day of the Challenge with over 7.7M cobblestones for a 24 hour period. Congratulations to everyone...this is a great accomplishment.

We are still mopping up all those factors - over 1500 found!!! Hopefully we'll see some prime blooms in the coming months. 260 teams and 2092 individuals participated in the Challenge.

The Challenge Points stats are official. Congratulations to SETI.Germany as the top team and AF>XTBA>XTC FRED as the top individual. Maybe some sleeping giants have been awoken. Remember, the top 30 places earn points for this Challenge.

There were stats blips at the beginning with DST (off by 1 hour) and at the end again DST (off by 1 hour). However, both have now been resolved. Our apologies for this.

Thank you again to everyone. We appreciate your participation and hope you had fun! We wish y'all a nice spring and look forward to seeing you at the next Challenge - PrimeGrid's Birthday/Summer Solstice Challenge - 12-21 June - 9 days on the Prime Sierpinski Problem LLR! This will be our first time to do PSP LLR as a Challenge and what a bruiser it's going to be. Start cooling your machines now. :)

Congrats to the PrimeGrid group for finding 1500+ factors.

Anybody know how many of them are applicable to Seventeen or Bust, and how many Proth tests this will save us?

Not sure if they're all reflected in the graph posted by Joe_O, the factors might not have all got through the system when he posted it.
