I'm back onto BOINC (specifically Rosetta) after experiencing deteriorating results with F@H.

Are there any projects that FreeDC need some help with or shall I stay at 100% on Rosetta and see if I can overtake myself

There's quite a lot of BOINC projects where our standing isn't good but there is no project more worthy of our CPU cycles than Rosetta.

Over the coming months I hope to be putting a little bit back there myself.

The CASP conference just wrapped up so they should be posting the full analysis soon. I think their preliminary results showed they were one of the best again.

SIMAP has got plenty of work at the moment and we could do with a hand to improve on our ranking (currently #47).

I've put SIMAP back on a couple of clients - every little helps :)

M&S or Waitrose is posh - Sainsburys is faux posh in my books :p

True, me I'm more "Asda" than "Sainsbury's" given I know where it all is, it's easier to get to etc.. I don't need to walk 5 miles to get around the place either as the one nearest me from memory was pretty big and had a crazy layout.

Nice. I'm interested to know how they compared against other BOINC projects who entered, like POEM@home.

The results are available here:
http://predictioncenter.org/casp8/results.cgi

Summary statistics on the performance of all groups in CASP8:
http://prodata.swmed.edu/CASP8/evaluation_human/DomainsAll.Best.Zscore.html#top

They are kind of hard to read but from what I can make of it, Rosetta's overall score was higher than any other group, POEM ranked 75 out of 166 and there were 3 groups that worse scores than just randomly guessing.

Aah, I wondered why I couldn't find Rosetta, didn't realise it was under DBAKER. Wow, that really puts Rosetta in its place (way ahead) then.

Interesting to see the CAPS results - forgot about that happening otherwise I would've switched earlier :bang:

Anyway - settled on a 45/45/10 split between Rosetta, SIMAP and Aqua so should get some crunching done over the christmas break ;)

The December batch at SIMAP is exhausted - there won't be any more work until January now. :(

Got around 4-5 days work in most of the buffers according to BoincView so just see what happens...:looney:
