Thanks for the concern, Bok.

I have just totally become uninterested in distributed computing right now. It kind-of started by the whole "green" thing and saving electricity and energy and stuff. And, well, it just isn't giving me any satisfaction anymore.

I loved doing it, but it ain't my "bag" anymore. But thanks to the great Free-DC community, I know that I am welcome to come and go as I please. That is what attracted me to this group in the first place.

I hope you all understand. I will always be lurking in the shadows in the forums (as I always have) and supporting the cause as an observer.

I may make a return in the future, but for now I'm taking a break.

Jeff

Great to hear all is good with you Jeff. Thanks for letting us know. And of course you are welcome to come and go as you please. It's good to have a break now and then. Don't be a stranger!

Hey Maefly, don't be a stranger even if you aren't crunching DC. Ol' friends and mates are always welcome for a chinwag, cold one from the fridge or whatever tickles your palate.
H'mmm, thinking of palate, I do still like peaches, specially in a bottle of brandy or with a bottle of brandy as sauce on the chocolate melted and frozen over some ice cream and well ripe ones Moogie. Now there's a taste memory for you.
Hah memories are made of this so there's one for you Maefly.:eat:

Hopefully you can get what I've got here maefly (when it comes to energy).

My electric company has a "green" option where I can choose what percentage of my electricity supplied to my house comes from renewable resources such as wind and solar. I've got 100% chosen and it's only an extra $4 a month for it. :)

I'd do solar here in Phoenix, AZ. - but - it costs SO DANG MUCH to get started :bang:

It would be nice to get "off the grid" or at least reduce my dependency on company provided electricity, but that won't be possible until I buy land to build my first (and hopefully last) house on years down the road.

At 23 and living in an apartment complex, that was my best option.

You can get an energy credit on your taxes if you do solar. There's also plans you can find on the 'net to build an inexpensive wind fan to put on your property/top of house which you can also claim under that energy credit I believe. :)

Break even point on purchasing the system will take 20 years. :(
Not sure I'll be around that long, or be living in this house that long...
However, IF I was to get one large enough,
I could build me a pharm of incredible size and run it for free!
Probably pay for itself in 5 years that way :D
