Something isn't right....I have 3104 WU's alone. I need to talk to Mike!

magnav0x
10-29-2002, 01:42 PM
Oh crap! when I put the other computer on earlier today I accidently put ERDT DFW! No no no! I'll see if Mike can do something about it if not, then I'll have to fix that comp tomorrow morning. Well, just add whatever is on my team to free-dc and that's where we should be until then hehe:jester:

Looks like I'll just have to wait until tomorrw, it automaticaly switches teams when a client with a diff team submits a packet. I'll fix it tomorrow morning.....so off an on until then I'll be hoping teams. I was able to get a few WU's sent from home uploaded to put me back on Free-DC, but I still have a lot more in que that I'm unable to get uploaded. Mike said something about having the server issues resolved tonight. I'll get back to you on the forum problem

IB, he couldn't find anything wrong with the BB, new people are registering pretty often and he created a new user and it worked fine. Are you sure you don't have any security restrictions set for your browser? What browser are you using?

Well. I'm not impressed so far...

3 client updates in as many days, the last one this evening seems to have lost all of my stored WUs (160+/-) during the process, I registered for the forum today and now it won't let me in, and refuses to mail me my password.

But - I'm trying to help!

Got 2 boxes going, about 2.7 Ghz

magnav0x
10-29-2002, 10:24 PM
Just remember, the last updated clients were to address new the new servers...the client has to know the new servers exist....

I know you are going ot love this one..:|party|: New client is released as of now to fix the flushing issues with the new servers :bang: Version (1.0.400). Get it now and try to get those WU's in guys.

**well I just got the new client and it's still unable to flush the units. I think the servers are completely down now though, because they have to add in 2 more servers tonight, but I don't know***

magnav0x
10-29-2002, 10:57 PM
Ok guys....if you try to upload your stuff, please backup your offline.dat file....I lost all my qued data when I uploaded it and got no stats. I'm going to have to have a talk with Mike.....:swear:

IronBits

I'm gonna stay working offline until all this settles down. :bang:
Sorry to hear you lost all that work :swear:

magnav0x
10-29-2002, 11:21 PM
He's going to credit me for my 1200 WU's. The server SEEMS to be working with the new client....so you can give it a shot, just make sure you backup the offline.dat in case. I'm getting credit now. He had to make an adjustment on the server side after I told him what was going on. Just hope I got to him before any other people lost a lot of data. I d/l the client almost as soon as he put it in the stream, so hopefully I saved a lot of WU's. I'm letting my laptop get a que of about 20 up then I'm going to test and see if it counts them all. I'll let you know how it goes guys. BTW if you do try...it'll look like the client has crashed...mine even said "Not responding..." in the title bar, but it's ok, just leave it. It's taking a long time to get the data accross to the servers.

magnav0x
10-30-2002, 12:15 AM
Ok, well it seems that it's acting up again, so I'm setting my clients to not connect again and I'll work with Mike some more on the issue.

Angus
10-30-2002, 12:18 AM
So I take it mine are irretrievably lost? :bang: Well over half of all the work I've done is missing in the stats. My home box has done 297 WUs, and the work box was over 300 when I left, and my total stats show 299 right now.

I loaded the new client (1.0.400) about 5:30PM Pacific time.

It looks like it's back to no-connect now - got a few queued up.

What about the forum issue? I know what password I set, and it won't recognize it, and I don't see a way to get it reset....

IronBits

I'd love to - stupid clients won't upload work, soooo I have stopped doing this project for awhile.
I would like to get an email addy for Mike so I can email him the 7,000 wus I have stored up in like 6 different offline#.dat files from 3 different computers tho.

Angus
11-02-2002, 10:34 AM
IB - have you tried the new client version? 1.0.406

Do a fresh install, copy one of your offline.dat files into the folder before you start the client, and it should upload.

The client seems to do a handshaking thing for each WU, something like "resolve data server , send one WU, await updated results, repeat" . If it does not get a pretty quick response (2 sec.?) to the "resolve data server" request, it goes back to crunching, but when the next WU is done, it sends some results until it doesn't get a prompt response again. Eventually they are all sent. Then, when the offline.dat is 0KB again, you can copy another saved file into the folder.

This has worked for all 3 of my boxes, that all previously had problems sending results.

magicfan241 -ARS ATCP
11-02-2002, 11:21 AM
Now the client uploads them all at once! :)

No more endless rounds of handshaking with the server!

Been there, done that, done this to... ;)
All backups done first :)
del offline.dat and restore.dat neo.dat
start neo.exe (1.0.406)
stop neo.exe
Then one of the following --
1) type offlinebackup.dat >> offline.dat
2) copy /b offlinebackup.dat+offline.dat offline.dat
3) copy /b offlinebackup.dat + offline.dat
4) copy offlinebackup.dat offline.dat
5) del offline.dat then ren offlinebackup.dat offline.dat
start neo.exe
it contacts Server
Points completed incrementing, offline.dat getting LARGER, no points showing as cached.
looses contact with Server and continues to work
if I leave it alone, when it finishes a point, it will show 1 point cached, contact server, upload the cached point, starts incrementing Points completed until it looses contact with the server. All the while, offline.dat keeps getting larger and larger.
Total points completed never changes.
Oh, it also has to resolve to a server on each and every point.
I give up. :bang: :swear:

Angus
11-02-2002, 01:25 PM
IB - yeah, for some reason the offline.dat file gets bigger as it sends WUs. Then when they're all sent, it's reset to 0 bytes.

IronBits
11-02-2002, 01:33 PM
k, I'll just sit here and keep on clicking contact damn servers to upload over 7,000 points... this is gonna be fun :bang:

Angus
11-02-2002, 01:40 PM
Just let it do it's own thing while it crunches... eventually the cache will get emptied.

It does seem like the handshaking is a little overboard :bs:

{edit}

Looks like they just put up release 1.0.407 which has about 8 data server ports active now.

magnav0x
11-02-2002, 02:43 PM
Yeah the new client helps a bit with the handshaking. I was able to get all my WU's sent after a lot of patient manual uploading. But if you just set the client to connect after each WU it'll eventualy get them all sent. At least we were able to reclaim out #7 posistion. Maybe IB can push us on up to 6

It did help they added the extra servers in the latest client :)
I can't believe I lost that many points, so I've appended them all to one large offline.dat and just gonna let it run (2+meg) and see if it can find some that I missed.
