SIMAP August Workunits On Their Way

The guys at SIMAP have turned the tap on and the August workunits have started flowing.


The current workunits calculate the similarities and domains of approx. 275.000 new sequences from public databases imported in July 2009.

That is ONLY 4-5 days work! If we can mobilise enough boxen we have a real chance of getting well into the top 40 (currently we are #41).

For anyone who hasn't run SIMAP before:
1) Workunits take less than an hour
2) Deadlines are 1 week
3) There is fixed number of workunits per month
4) You are limited to 30 queued workunits per CPU

Anyone else fancy a couple of days of SIMAP?

There have been over 12k boxen active over the last few days. There were only about 480k workunits this time that is about 40 workunits per box.

Very hard to make any significant progress in the team rankings with so little work.
