View Full Version : Kicking users off your own team

Ok, I've implemented the 'kicking' feature for team leaders. When you login, you should see a place to kick people off, and it should work, placing them onto team 0 (teamless users). It will also send them a mail with your reason you give and a generic header explaining that they were kicked off by their team leader. Feel free to kick off inactive accounts, etc., but please use responsibly.

I have taken great care to ensure the security of the new feature as well so please do try to abuse it - i.e. kick off people not on your team by making direct calls to the CGI if you know, or crazy stuff like that, put lots of swear words in the message - it shouldn't let you. Actually, I just realized I think you might be able to kick yourself off so DONT try that yet...

Anyways, if I don't hear of any security breaches with this function Ill make a more general announcment on the web site. Thanks.

If you are not a team leader, ignore this message :D

Seems to work perfectly, I was teamless when I checked. I joined a team again, so all is good.

My only rule to visitors is don't leave the seat down .. and all will be good.. :moon: Now it will be fun to see how we can hack people off other teams..

Now if you REALLY want to have fun jumping around, go find some team at the bottom of the list and join them... I can just imagine a couple of the Top 10 people doing that and have some nameless team in the Top 10 for a day.... where they heck did they come from??

I can only bump team 28 HardOCP up to 10th place. I just don't have enough power to help some obscure team.

Ni! :D

Added- I just noticed that they haven't defined a team leader so they can't kick me off of their team. I will see if they notice that I have arrived and do whatever makes them happy.

2nd edit- I read through their forums... they don't seem to be following DF at all, so I moved back to The Knights Who Say Ni

most of the smaller teams don't have leaders defined

Perhaps for leaderless teams ... with lots of zero production users.. someone could volunteer to be leader .. just to clean up a bit.. and then get demoted.. Hmm.. do you lose leader status if you go to another team and then return again..?? You wouldn't also become a leader on that team too for some reason would ya ??.... I'm too chicken to try..
..maybe a special global leader with the only extra ablity would be garbage detail... that can go to a team and remove only zero production users...

If those teams don't care enough to create a team leader, then I don't think anybody else should be deleting members off of their team. It doesn't make sense to do that.

Sorry, kinda munged 2 concepts there.. I guess I was more interested in someone that could visit ANY team .. with only the ability to remove the zero production people.. maybe send them to a special zero producers team..
If I was on the teamless users . I woudln't want them on my team. Of course if a user that has joined is given 30 days to produce.. or automatically be delisted .. that would take care of it for future cases.. Anybody able to give a number on how many .. People on a team.. that have never produced ??

In the same way now I get a dropdown list of ALL users to kick .. I will only get a list of zero production people. I would have no acesss to do anything to anybody else on those teams..

Of course some teams have real leaders who have little or no production... like this one (http://www.distributedfolding.org/teampages/team157.html)

If you keep doing that, I'm going to make you visit us... ;)

Or better yet, how about in SETI where you gave some WU for the cause?

I can just see it in the future... Excuse me sir, my computer is slow... can you spare some work units?

Remind me how a team leader gets set?

Someone on your team emails Howard with the account info for the team leader for your team and also the team number (taken from the URL for the stats for your team). Then that account is modified by Howard to be your team leader and that account then has the two additional functions of changing team name and kicking off users.

Technically, I am the leader of all teams that don't show one (since I'm not on the actual team, no one will show up in red though).
