View Full Version : Should I restart?

When I first ran the client, I noticed several errors happening in one of the cores. This raised my suspicions about having an unstable machine, so I ran the torture test on the computer. Sure enough, a problem on the first core (the same core that occasionally erred) cropped up within a couple of passes. After further tests, I discovered that Vcore on my processor dipped dangerously below spec when the processor was under load. This is odd, since the processor is not overclocked at all. I set the Vcore a little higher (still within the range specified by the processor specifications, but on the upper end) and Vcore stopped dipping under load and the torture test now passes.

My question is, has the previous instability of my processor possibly contaminated the work unit (or has whatever error detection technique used earlier caught the problem and discarded any erroneous results)? Should I restart the work unit? If I should restart it, how can I do this?

Thanks.

Yes, restart the test. Stop the program. Delete the pNNNNNNN file as well as the backups (.bu and .bu2 extension). Restart the program.
