Alright, IronBits. I'm calling you out, early in the project.

I propose, first one for 5k (seems like a fair number so far) wins it. We can use my pproxy for the stats, and since if not all but most of eeach of our blocks are going through there, it should be pretty accurate. However, the official d.net stats will state the winner. Should we both reach 5k on the same day, the user with the most total blocks at the end of that day wins it.

This is for pride, so no monetary gifts will be won. Waddya say?

IronBits

Well, that should take me about 15 days to get there...
You're on! :moon: wiggle wiggle :moon:

Thanks IB :)....see you at 5k :moon:

I run 4 boxen in total and 3 run 24x7. My wife's machine is part time - ~8hrs a day (she's just turned it off for tonight).

IronBits
12-30-2002, 12:52 PM
:scared:
Damn! What am I doing wrong then? 24x7 ...
I have 3 XP1800s (1 is on Manrake 9.0, rest w2k)
I have 1 XP2001
I have 1 XP1800 running like an XP2000
Core selection= -1 for automatic selection.
Granted, 2 are Servers, but not heavyly used.
Guess I'll just have to add another 2 more XP2000s :D

TheOtherPhil
12-30-2002, 01:09 PM
Ooops, I "forgot" to mention that all my machines are dual AMD's..1x dual XP2400@ 2325MHz and 3x dual XP1800's. 10.7GHz full time and 3.06GHz part time :D

IronBits

Excellent OC! :smoking:

Darkness Productions
12-30-2002, 01:33 PM
Heh... Looks like I'm gonna lose this one. I've got about as much as I can muster running right now. Approx 10.1GHz and that's all I can get outta them. I may see if I can't overclock a machine a little further to get some more production...

TheOtherPhil
12-30-2002, 01:57 PM
Yeah Glen, I noticed that we were pretty evenly matched earlier this morning until my wife turned on her machine. That's where that extra 100 blocks has come from.

After a recent upgrade, I have a dual 1.2MP system and everything except a case to get it running. I may just grab a case and let my daughter "borrow" it ;).

Darkness Productions
12-30-2002, 02:38 PM
I've been planning some upgrades, but they'll have to wait until I get a rackmount case and pay off my credit card. I plan to have the credit card dead by the end of January, no later than the end of February. Then the upgrades can commence *bigtime* ;D

Glen

That sewing machine box is an old, erm OLD Compaq 286-12 with a 10Meg HDD :D Now belongs to frag ;)
The one sitting on top of the portable white A/C unit is a Dual P3-866 or sumpin... belongs to JTrinkle now.

w00t! I gained on IronBits by 6 blocks this past day (as seen here http://stats.distributed.net/team/tmember.php?project_id=8&team=910183941&source=y ). However, Phil beat the pants off both of us. :notworthy :notworthy

I'm about as maxed out as I can get, and am in the process of overclocking machines trying to get a smidge more production out of them. but I don't think it's gonna be enough.

IronBits: I have good control like that because I'm 22 years old and almost 20k in debt (granted, 16k of that is my car, but still)... I have to get this stuff paid off, or all the machines in the world won't be able to help me out...

Looks like (at this point) I'll be at 5k about a day late :(

Actually, I can't let Phil get away with that now can I? ;)
I'm with you DP, pay it all off quickly -- It's the only way to play that game.
I was getting new Credit Card offers with interest rates as high as 24.99%!!! :scared:
Highway robbery, loan sharks even! I'm down to just one now.
I'll take care of that Phil guy... No, not that one! TheOtherPhil ;) :jester:
I put on a tad more iron. :D :haddock:
So long as his wife keeps turning her computer off, I have a fighting chance. ;):|punch|:

LOL, yup been there done that, but this is for my 6 year old daughter..."hmmm daddy, my finger is stuck in the heatsink just after the fan cut it off". I can't have her fingers (or food) blocking the fans....the Athlons run hot enough :rotfl: :D

It looks like I'm still struggling along with the Intel chips

I've got running

2 * P4 1.7
1 * Dual PIII866
1 * Dual PII333
1 * PIII550
3 * PII350
1 * Celeron 633

I reckon that must be around 8Ghz :D

But I'm still going backwards :help:

Still at least I'm still 3rd on the dnet stats today :|party|:

Ugh... I'm maxed, and then some. I will *not* be buying a system just to beat the two of you, no matter how tempting it may seem.... Oh well. Guess I'll just have to settle for third place in this one ;)

You're doing a great job. I don't know how long I can hold up under all this pressure. All it will take is 1 or 2 systems to stop and you both will pass me :( :bang:

hey ya topproducer!

why are you leaving the rc5-72-team? do you want to give us small crunchers a chance to get to the top positions or are you bored with rc5?

please come back to climb up the team-stats@rc5-72!

They all went off for a vacation in Distributed Folding. :swear:

Well... nevermind, I will slowly crop up and then take No.1 from IB. When he realized what has happenend, it will be too late :moon:

hmm, will they ever come back?

just wanted to see the team climbing up the stats-ladder... but alone with my few boxen it's impossible :(

they went on a folding vacation and the team falls down the stats

my boxen crunching for rc5-72:
almost 24/7: xp2000+
24/7: athlon 1200
sometimes: duron 750, intel p3 1000

did i mention that all my crunched workunits are belong to free-dc?

TheOtherPhil
01-29-2003, 12:42 PM
Don't worry, I have a few part-time machines running RC5-72 for Free-DC. Occasionally, I may put my farm on RC5 for a few weeks (~20GHz if ran 24/7).

TO all who are trying to beat IB around the pants. If you run a P3 or celery of the same era (slot 1), the auto-sense function does not provide the best selection. Option 4 or 5 (check the benchmarks) works 30% better

For all of ya
