A new version of dfGUI has been released (v2.0). This new version has some exciting new features that I'm sure many of you have been looking forward to.

You can get it in the regular location:
http://gilchrist.ca/jeff/dfGUI/

v2.0 (Jan. 4, 2003)
- Fixed tab order so it makes more sense

- Changed status bar to be red when client stopped to attract more attention

- Added option to make all text use Windows Text colour setting to handle a larger number of colour schemes

- Made GUI smaller by adding ability to hide configuration options

- Added option to automatically restart DF Client after a specified # of minutes of inactivity (no update to progress.txt file) to recover from crashes

- Added counter to show how many automatic restarts were done

- Added option to stop DF Client and exit GUI after a specified # of hours. When activated, a timer is displayed showing the time remaining.

Jeff, I just installed your app on my four game systems here (the only Windows boxes I have) and it looks fantastic. Very nice work!

It's everything I want in a monitoring tool...except it doesn't work on the vast majority of my boxes. :(

Have you ever considered a Linux version? Do you even have the environment available for coding in? If not, and if I can find the time, would you be opposed to my making a 'work-alike' for Linux (probably using GTK since I generally use Gnome)?

I have considered doing a Linux version. The two problems I have are both time and a decent system. At home the only Linux system I have is my server and I don't want to install any non-server related stuff to it. In the next couple of months I plan on getting a new Dual-Athlon machine which I will set up as dual-boot for Linux and Windows. I doubt I will have the time to do too much. Kylix v3 is free and now supports C++ code so I might be able to import my code for dfGUI into it easily enough and remove all the Windows specific stuff.

If you have the time (even with all your stats/Free-DC coding??) go right ahead. I released the source code for dfGUI in the public domain so go ahead and use as much of is as you can to help get it up and running. I would definitely use it myself on my Linux boxes. ;)
