Good questions - also:
1. Make sure you have extended your Windows desktop onto that card.
2. Make sure you have a monitor (or dummy plug) plugged into the ATI card; windows doesn't like ATI cards without things plugged into them
3. If you have multiple GPUs in the box, make sure to turn on "Use all GPUs" in the cc_config file.

Yeah, tell us which ATI card, BOINC version, and OS, and we'll figure it out...

I've got some older boards that act the same way with 58xx series cards. They work just fine with the 48xx series though. When I put in my last 5850 I had to shuffle stuff around a bit. At least it's making you work harder and giving me a chance to stay ahead.:jester:

The Electric bill is of vary little concern to me And I have it on auto pay

But Ya the 10 K AC can Not keep up with 150 CPU cores and 10 GPU's
in +90% days. I underestimated the cooling requirements

You should have asked about it. I would've told you to make your best guess and then double it. It gets so hot in the shop that I basically shut down all the CPU crunching in the summer. I've only got 2 that are nibbling away at certian projects.

I top Bigred in power It is just that I upgraded to boinc 56 six days ago and my output drooped by 25% for 3 days till I fixed it.

One of the air conditioners quit. I won't be able to replace it till near the end of next month so I had no choice except to start shutting down machines.:hair:

I work in a one man operation and I'm leaving for vacation. I've still got one air conditioner running and I've reducrd the crunching to just the 5850 big guns and a couple of rigs here at the house. Luckily I have someone to stop by the shop a couple times a week to make sure the remaining AC is still working. Oh well, I got about three years out of that one. I'll order a new one tomorrow and it should be waiting when I get back.

We try to take the boys someplace different every summer. This year we've rented a vacation house at the Bodensee. This is where Germany, Austria and Switzerland all meet. This (http://www.zeppelin-museum.de/home_en.0.html) is one of the places we want to visit.

So far we've taken them to Denmark, Netherlands, Crete(Greece), Canary Islands(Spain), France, Belgium, The north sea here in Germany and 2 trips to Russia.:D

Since they are 9 and 12 Saturday I will have to build a wall between them in the car and install the portable DVD players.

It's REALLY sad when my :stretcher C2D (without usable GPU) can give Lauren a run in Pgrid..... :Pokes:

How DOES one get an ATI 5470 GPU to be recognized by Pgrid in a laptop running win 7 with a N850 Phenom II Tri-core? (no linux load yet).

It seems to see it, but won't give it GPU apps. Did SOMEONE suck them out of the queue????

FYI: I have the good GPUs in the car (ready to head out for a new project).... just finished putting a full vision robot (fully automated w/ neat stuff) in Detroit. Going back to my previous career.... this 'commercial' stuff is insane.

PS: I turned off MW for now.... too many WUs erroring in the last 3-4 seconds of processing. The new SSE2 apps seem unstable for some reason both in Win and Linux.

Looks like today was your lucky day. All my full time boxes except 1 are down. I had a circuit breaker box at work go up in smoke. It will get replaced Monday and then I can start to see what I have that still runs.

Just wont be worth it. What I shut down were boxes that did not have a PCIe slot (no GPU) and ones with older CPUs. The eight quads are still running.
