I couldn't find a thread for this project so I just wanted to state my intentions of running it and trying to move Free-DC up a couple of places or 40.

Free-DC is currently in 123rd position and I see a lot of room to move up the ranks without much work. I'm hoping to get us into the Top 100.:guntotin::guntotin::clap::clap:

Hey, guys, sorry I haven't been around. I had to go to Lake Tahoe and play at the lake and surrounds. Snow flurries almost everyday, go figure. Popped into the Ritz-Carlton at Northstar today to take a tour of the place. Saturday we will have to do some wine tasting near Napa, yeech!

We *were* at #52 when I started Docking a few weeks ago. Andy Brady was chugging along all by himself. A week or so after I jumped in, Andy found something else to do. So, all by myself, with my 2 duals and 1 Borged quad, I've moved us back up to #51 and will kick HardOCP out of 50th place in a couple of days.

Just BTW, when this project started, the points-for-work ratio was not-so-hot. Seems that sometime over the long summer, someone got the hint and made adjustments. Looks to be more in line with the other folding projects, point-wise.

If anyone would like to throw in a box or two, I'd love to have the company! :hiya:

Wow! :scared: That's a LOT of bad supplies. I wonder why PS's go bad so often. That's undoubtedly the main thing that goes wrong with PCs - at least with MY PCs. I just figure on replacing them every couple of years. Dunno - guess that comes from running the machines all the time, crunching Work Units.

Fortunately, they are cheaper than CPUs or motherboards.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, gopher. It seems like most of these projects are created with great fanfare by the university's top researchers, who disappear once the thing starts running. An inadequate staff of underpaid, undertrained and undersupported undergrads is left to (under)manage the show. Professional sysadmins wouldn't put up with a fraction of the crap that goes on. But then again, a professional sysadmin wouldn't work very long with shoestring funding and dicey equipment. It's really a shame, but it seems to happen in a lot of DC projects. The Docking admins have been apologizing a lot, lately. That shouldn't be necessary. It could be worse, I guess. At least they seem to care about the users.

Haven't stopped crunching! There's a problem affecting all machines running Win 7. The admins have no idea, other than to flush out the offending WU's. It's on a remote machine for me, so it'll take me a day or so to get over there and do the flush.

This project is beset by 0-length .inp files. They cause the program to crunch approximately *forever* with 0.00 progress. Not nice.

No fix in sight, as the admins haven't even acknowledged the problem. If you need me, I'll be crunching over at POEM. Almost at the million mark there, too.
