Well, I'm not sure exactly what started it, but we seem to have had real surge of interest after what seemed like a pretty long quiet spell...

Check this out:

http://stats.zerothelement.com/cgi-bin/distributed-folding/cd-graph-team-daily.pl?Id=5&entries=25&type=BAR

Just a week or two ago, we were about 4th or 5th in the 'daily production' race. Yesterday we were firmly in second place with about 8 million more structures than the next team (AnandTech).

THAT'S WHAT I LIKE TO SEE!!!

Add to that the fact that several of us are still continuing to ramp up (I'll be adding another 10 or 12 ghz this week), and we should be looking really good by the end of the week!

I wonder how much heartburn we could give Ars if FoBoT and xj10bt were to come back for a visit? :jester:
Anyone want to start a pool on how many days it would take xj10bt to catch our leader Condor?
If Dyyryath can find our ole buddy in hiding that is. :p
Did anyone notice Condor's ONE MILLION update on 1-27th at 1300? :smoking:
Don't let Dyyryath catch you Condor! :|party|:

Yeah, Condor's obviously decided to make this as difficult as possible. :swear: :D

We'll see what we see...I added another XP1600 last night and I just got shipping confirmation on three dual MP2200s. I've got another XP2400 that should ship tomorrow. Hopefully by Friday night or Saturday morning I'll be looking a little better.

Please forgive me Dyy if I somehow gave you the impression that I would allow myself to be steamrolled so easily.

Ironbits - I have you to thank for getting me hooked on Prime95, more machines that I cannot take off just yet.

I would love to have FoBoT and xj back. The more the merrier.
I really don't consider myself number 1 on the team - maybe number 1 with a big " * ".
I surely would not have passed FoBoT.

And a big  to those who have returned or increased production > Angus, Chinasaur, Darkness Productions and JustinFields.
And how could I forget Anarchy99, I guess I will be seeing you shortly.
Apoligies in advance to anyone that I forgot.

I'm glad to see you back in the fight, Condor!

Food for thought FreeDC.

Go to the all teams page and and sort by weekly production.

Things will get interesting if the stats are zeroed.

i'll keep my eyes open for more willing crunchers or available computers...

the problem with friends crunching for you is that sooner or later they turn it off for one reason or another and forget to turn it back on. so i hit up some of them for more time a bit ago, but I was told by two separate friends on the same day that I seem to have an "unhealthy obsession" (exact words from both of them!) with this DC thing. I told them if they thought i was bad, they should come read this forum! :D

"No thanks" was the unanimous response.

 normal people....

Way to go, Angus!

Just keep on and on and on and on. As ZaphodB sez...

"Half a billion here, half a billion there, pretty soon you're talking serious folding." ...or words to that effect.

SCOOFY12: I just call up TaskManager or TaskInfo or the like and say, "See that 98% in System Idle Process? That could be 98% of YOUR CPU answering some of the BIG questions! Just like the idle task, it only runs when nothing else wants to, gets right out of the way for ANY other process, but in between, maybe solving the riddle of cancer or Alzheimer's or diabetes or AIDS. Costs you nuthin'! Maybe solves a big problem. Pumps the hell out of my score! So howzabout it?"

Ya gotta sell the sizzle! ;)

OK, new modifications...
Took the ASUS A7N8X nforce2 board, replaced XP2100 with an XP2600/333 with a stick of 512mb DDR Crucial XMS 2/2/2 and shoved it to 166(333) and it came right up! :smoking:
Took my ASUS A7V333, XP1800 and upgraded it to AMD XP2100+ with two sticks of 256mb Kingston Value Ram (333), set it up for 2/2/2 also running at 166. :D

Het IB, run that by me again. Did you see an almost 3x increase by doing no more than changing OS? You think that '98 runs significantly slower than 2k in an essentially dedicated environment? I have a handful of '98 machines that might benefit from that knowledge.

Last time I bothered to check, I didn't notice much difference though. I run all Windows boxes; '98, NT4, 2k, and XP. When I have somewhat equal machines that aren't performing equally, I usually either find that some spyware, or other background nonsense has crept in, or I chalk it up to differences in memory bandwidth....

I'm interested in just what your before/after envs. looked like.

IronBits

I broke 3 mil per day, 3 updates in a row :scared: :D

TheOtherZaphod,
fresh install of win98 -- updates from M$, less than 1 per second
fresh install of w2k 2.73 -- no other changes.
This morning I am going to apply SP3 to see if there is any differences...
update: no differences that I can see... :(
