LHC@home 2.0 launchedWe are announcing the start of beta testing of the first second-generation LHC@home project.It is the first of what is expected to be a series of physics applications running on the LHC@home 2.0Volunteer Cloud platform.This is a test project, to demonstrate the use of virtual machines using the CERN-developed CernVM technology inside BOINC systems to perform fully-fledged LHC physics event simulation on volunteer computers.All LHC@home volunteers are welcome to join the beta testing, which will initially accept about 1000 active helpers.
