Is there a way to benchmark the folding client without dfGUI, through a batch file or otherwise? I would like to compare the difference between w/ dfGUI and w/o dfGUI. I remember reading somewhere that 2.1 seemed to produce less folds than 2.0.

There ARE ways to benchmark your folding w/o dfGUI. Unfortunately, they will take as much system time away from folding as dfGUI, or more!

You must understand that dfGUI only sets the initial parameters, starts foldtrajlite.exe, which does the actual folding, and monitors the performance. The only intrusion that dfGUI presents to the operation is the frequency with which it "samples" foldtrajlite's intermediate results. This will, of course, be a factor in whatever method you might use to measure.

As to the notion of v2.1 "producing" fewer folds, whoever said that just doesn't understand the relationship between the programs. Besides, you can always start the folding with dfGUI, then shut it down and let foldtrajlite do its thing until you're ready to make a change...then fire dfGUI back up and you're off!

Use dfGUI and enjoy watching the operation. It takes a miniscule amount away (we're talking maybe .0001%) for the convenience it provides! ;)
