64-bit version

will there be a 64 bit version of the client for the new optron and athlon64s?
i don't have one of these yet but i hope to by the end of the summer so i wanted to know if i could put the new processors into the frey

Is the 17 client doing 64bit math already? and if so, wouldn't the 64bit chips provide like a 400% increase? I know that is too much to really be hopeful for, but I can dream.
