sobsvc9x: Unable to start client, Code = -1

I tried the windows client and it seems to work just fine -- except that I couldn't connect to the net after about 24 hours (as I had read on this forum before). So I figured I'd try the 'sobsvc9x' thing (this is win98se) to have it restart the client every 24 hours or so.

Following the faq I did 'sobsvc9x -i' and 'sobsvc9x -m' and so forth (and the little dialog boxes that kept popping up seemed to say approximatelywhat I would expect them to say). Then I rebooted and ... well ... nothing happened. Here's the pertinent part of the logfile:

and so on -- for pages. So I uninstalled the thing again and the client is running again just fine all by itself...

The Code of -1 indicates that the attempt to create the client process failed. Either the "sb-mg.exe" file is missing from the "\Program Files\SB" subdirectory or it's corrupt somehow. When you start it manually, you're using a slightly different client (the one you installed originally - sb.exe) and that one is fine.

Check and see if "sb-mg.exe" is in the "\Program Files\SB" subdirectory. In any event, you should probably re-install that file from the zip file.

Let me know how this works...I haven't had any reports before of this particular error (or indeed any error at all with sobsvc9x) but since I don't use any of the Win 9x OSes routinely I haven't beat on it as thoroughly as sobsvc.

Hummm -- I re-unzipped the whole thing and tried again - and now it seems to do something (and I suppose it is the right thing ;) )
