I've decided to retire the old BP6 with dual 366@550. I just ordered a 830LMR mb with a 1700XP to replace it. The BP6 was only being used a backup in case my main system died and as a G@H machine (used to be seti) so I think the 1700XP should replace it just fine :D.
Had EconoPC (http://www.econopc.com) throw in a AMR modem, figured why not never used one before.
Plan to make it a Linux box as well, not very knowledgable on Linux but I like playing around with Mandrake.
If all goes well, I'll buy another when taxes come in and nic the 2 together :D.
Will be the first time I really had a machine just for the purpose of a DC project.

Well the New 1.46G XP1700 is up and running as of last night.
Currently crunching a 63AA protein, finished one already @ 4hrs and 15 minutes.
Unfortunately it is running Win2k / SP2 and the mb drivers right now.
Tried linux but Mandrake8 didnt see the onboard LAN, AMR modem. Check this thread (http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=347) for more info about it.

Congrats on the new box MTP, sorry to hear you couldn't get Mandrake 8.1 to play nice though. What kernel were you installing with that? I know I had some issues with certain kernels and the Realtek 8139 chipset. Could it be a similar problem?
